The Role
The AEM Assets Technical Owner is the enterprise subject matter expert (SME) and technical authority for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets, responsible for the platform’s architecture, integrations, and long-term technical strategy. This role owns the technical health, scalability, and evolution of AEM Assets and its connected ecosystem, ensuring the platform is leveraged to its fullest potential across the organization.
The Technical Owner leads integration architecture and execution centered on AEM, including deep integration with Adobe Workfront, downstream delivery platforms, and enterprise content systems. This role is expected to act as a thought leader—proactively identifying new use cases, integration opportunities, and business capabilities where Adobe AEM can be extended to drive efficiency, consistency, and scale across marketing, creative, and digital experience teams.
The Main Responsibilities
AEM Platform Ownership & Technical Authority
- Serve as the primary technical authority and SME for Adobe Experience Manager Assets, including DAM architecture, configurations, workflows, metadata models, and lifecycle management.
- Own the technical roadmap for AEM Assets, aligning platform capabilities with enterprise content, marketing, and digital experience strategies.
- Ensure platform stability, performance, security, and compliance with enterprise and Adobe best practices.
- Evaluate and implement Adobe AEM feature enhancements, upgrades, and cloud capabilities.
Integration Architecture & Development
- Lead the design, implementation, and governance of integrations centered around Adobe AEM Assets.
- Own and evolve integrations between AEM Assets and systems such as:
- Adobe Workfront (asset workflows, approvals, publishing automation)
- CMS and web delivery platforms
- Marketing automation and personalization tools
- PIM, CRM, and analytics platforms
- Define and document integration patterns, APIs, data flows, and service dependencies.
- Partner with engineering teams, Adobe, and system integrators to deliver scalable, resilient integration architectures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration, performance, and data synchronization issues.
Adobe Workfront Enablement
- Act as the technical lead for AEM–Workfront integration, ensuring seamless asset intake, approval, versioning, and publishing workflows.
- Optimize Workfront-to-AEM pipelines to reduce manual effort and improve asset throughput.
- Partner with creative, marketing, and operations teams to continuously improve workflow automation and governance.
Governance & Best Practices
- Define and enforce DAM governance, including metadata schemas, taxonomy, naming conventions, renditions, and access controls.
- Establish and maintain enterprise standards for asset ingestion, approval, publishing, and archival.
- Conduct technical audits to ensure adherence to governance, performance benchmarks, and architectural standards.
Performance, Optimization & Scalability
- Monitor AEM Assets performance, storage utilization, and asset delivery metrics.
- Drive optimizations related to asset rendition strategy, delivery performance, and storage efficiency.
- Ensure the platform scales to support growing asset volumes, users, and integrations.
Thought Leadership & Strategic Enablement
- Act as a thought leader for Adobe AEM, proactively identifying new ways the platform can be leveraged across the organization.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to uncover new use cases for AEM Assets beyond traditional DAM scenarios.
- Educate stakeholders on AEM capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
- Contribute to enterprise content and digital experience strategy as a trusted technical advisor.
Stakeholder, Vendor & Adobe Partnership
- Collaborate closely with marketing, creative, IT, and digital teams to align technical capabilities with business needs.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with Adobe, system integrators, and third-party vendors.
- Support vendor selection, contract discussions, licensing strategy, and roadmap planning.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Technical Expertise
- Deep, hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets as a DAM platform.
- Strong working knowledge of AEM architecture, including:
- DAM workflows
- Metadata and taxonomy design
- APIs and integration patterns
- Cloud-based AEM deployments
- Proven experience leading AEM-centered integrations across multiple enterprise systems.
- Direct experience integrating Adobe Workfront with AEM Assets.
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration architectures, including APIs, event-based integrations, and data synchronization.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service or Adobe Managed Services.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and backend concepts supporting AEM implementations.
- Experience working with large-scale, multi-team DAM environments.
Soft Skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a technical thought leader and SME.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for non-technical audiences.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience owning or leading Adobe AEM or DAM platforms in an enterprise environment.
Success Metrics
- Stable, high-performing AEM Assets platform with scalable integration architecture.
- Successful, well-governed AEM–Workfront and downstream system integrations.
- Increased adoption of AEM Assets and reduced manual asset handling.

Compensation
| This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
