What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer LifeCraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

Role Overview:
The Learning and Development training manager leads and oversees a team of Learning and development specialist ensuring the consistent and high quality delivery of the New Employee Welcome Series and all onboarding programs across the organization. This position is responsible for supervising day to day team operations, driving continuous improvement of onboarding processes, and serving as the primary bridge between the Employee Experience team and Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Program departments. The Onboarding Training Manager ensures that new hire onboarding is not only operationally seamless but intentionally designed to reflect Woodcraft Rangers' mission, values, and commitment to building a strong and connected workforce.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Employee Experience staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and mission-aligned team culture
Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, and deliver timely performance evaluations for all direct reports
Delegate responsibilities across the team to ensure balanced workloads and efficient operations
Identify professional development opportunities and support the growth of each team member
Address and resolve personnel concerns, performance issues, and conflicts in partnership with Human Resources
New Employee Welcome Session Oversight
Oversee the facilitation of weekly New Employee Welcome Sessions, ensuring consistent quality, engagement, and alignment with Woodcraft Rangers' mission and culture
Review and approve all materials, logistics, and communications prepared by the team for New Employee Welcome Sessions
Ensure the team effectively presents key organizational information, policies, and expectations to new hires
Step in to facilitate sessions as needed to model best practices and maintain program standards
Cross-Departmental Communication & Collaboration
Serve as the primary point of contact between the Employee Experience team and Human Resources, Learning & Development, hiring managers, and Program teams
Build and maintain strong working relationships with departmental leaders to ensure onboarding is integrated, coordinated, and consistently supported across the organization
Communicate team updates, program changes, and new hire progress to relevant stakeholders in a timely and proactive manner
Represent the Employee Experience function in cross-functional meetings, planning sessions, and organizational initiatives
Shadow Day & Site Management Oversight
Oversee the identification and maintenance of model sites, ensuring quality and readiness for shadow day experiences
Supervise the coordination of shadow day logistics, scheduling, and new hire assignments across the team
Ensure accurate collection, verification, and processing of all shadow day paperwork and documentation
Monitor the overall effectiveness of the shadow day program and recommend improvements as needed
Learning Management & Portal Oversight (Absorb & Resource Portal)
Oversee the team's management of online course assignments through Absorb, ensuring timely and accurate completion tracking for all new employees
Ensure Cycle Planning progress is monitored through the Resource Portal and that the team supports timely completion of all Cycle Plans
Establish standards for new hire support in navigating the Resource Portal and Absorb LMS, ensuring consistent and high-quality assistance across the team
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources or Learning & Development or Training Facilitation, onboarding, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume, or nonprofit setting.
Strong understanding of onboarding best practices, HR compliance, and employment lifecycle processes.
Experience with LMS platforms (Absorb preferred), document management tools, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams).
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with hiring managers, IT, and other departments to deliver seamless onboarding experience.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
