Roles & Responsibilities

  • 4 year college degree plus 6 years casualty experience with bodily injury adjusting experience; or 10 years of property and casualty with bodily injury adjusting experience
  • AIC, CPCU or other insurance certification strongly desired
  • Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations and manuals
  • Proficiency with computers and experience with Excel, Word, and web-based systems

Requirements:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate complex automobile casualty claims, including non-injury, serious injury, fatalities, UMBI exposures, liability across multiple policies, and claims involving litigation
  • Determine proper policy coverages and equitably settle assigned casualty claims in accordance with company guidelines and best claims practices
  • Establish and authorize reserve and claim payments and monitor reserves throughout the life of the file
  • Collaborate with in-house litigation unit and outside defense counsel, and conduct settlement negotiations with claimants and policyholders

Job description

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Investigate, evaluate and negotiate complex automobile claims including non-injury, serious injury claims, fatality losses, UMBI exposures, liability exposures across multiple polices, and claims involving litigation.
• Determine proper policy coverages, investigate, evaluate, negotiate and equitably settle all assigned casualty claims in accordance with company guidelines and best claims practices.
• Establish and authorize reserve and claim payments and monitor reserves through the life of the file.
• The employee will be expected to handle numerous claims and to maintain a healthy diary system.
• Settlement negotiations with claimants, policy holders, and other parties are crucial to the position.
• Ability to multitask and address unexpected situations while showing the flexibility to do so.
• Maintain high standards of professional conduct while delivering superior customer service.
• The employee may assist other key Claims units in times of need.
• Closely work with in house litigation unit as well as outside defense counsel.
• Expected to meet with multiple members of management at once to discuss and advise on claim actions in both written and verbal format.
• Continue job development through training.
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires:
• 4 year college degree plus 6 years casualty experience with bodily injury adjusting experience; or
• 10 years of property and casualty with bodily injury adjusting experience
• AIC, CPCU or other insurance certification strongly desired.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required. Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required.
• Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
• Must possess basic skills and be proficient or have demonstrated aptitude with computers including experience with Excel, Word, and web based systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to operate in a normal office environment with occasional travel necessary to visit office locations, conduct investigations, attend conferences/training classes and meetings.
• The employee is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle controls and talk and hear.
• The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to stoop, lift and move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements by this job include close vision.
• Must maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
