Job description

Overview:

Are you a passionate Software Solutions Architect looking to contribute to impactful, large-scale projects? Do meaningful e-government solutions matter to you? Then you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

At Nortal, you don’t just design systems—you shape how complex solutions come to life. You work closely with clients, think from their perspective, and act as a true partner in solving real-world challenges. You balance architectural vision with hands-on pragmatism, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and built to last.

We are large enough to make a real impact, yet agile enough to move quickly. This balance allows us to build long-term relationships with our clients and deliver high-quality solutions that truly make a difference.

Ready to take the next step and grow with us? Join our interdisciplinary team of more than 1,000 experts worldwide and help shape our shared success.

This position is available full-time or part-time and is permanent. Whether you prefer working remotely or from one of our offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Potsdam, Dresden, or Cologne, you’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

About Nortal

For over 25 years, we’ve been shaping digital transformation, delivering complex solutions for global enterprises and public sector organisations. Today, we are at the forefront of an AI-driven transformation era, helping organisations turn data into real business value. By combining deep domain expertise with data and AI, we design solutions that create immediate impact while scaling for the future.

We believe complexity doesn’t have to mean complicated, and that the best solutions are those that work in the real world, not just on paper. That’s why our clients trust us with their most ambitious, business-critical initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients and facilitate technical workshops with customers and their service providers.

  • Take on technical project leadership, including solution design, specifications, and effort estimation in agile software development projects.

  • Design and document the overall architecture of large software systems consisting of multiple applications and their interactions.

  • Define system-wide architecture, design, and implementation guidelines and best practices.

  • Coach, mentor, and support software developers and other team members.

  • Select and evaluate tools and systems that meet business requirements.

  • Support sales activities and proposal development, including technical solution design and effort estimation.

  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:
  • A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, or a comparable qualification.

  • Several years of experience in technical consulting.

  • Proven experience planning, facilitating, and structuring technical workshops.

  • Extensive experience in technical leadership and/or solution architecture design.

  • A strong software engineering background and the ability to work across a wide range of technologies, architectures, and ecosystems.

  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD processes.

  • Curiosity and interest in understanding complex IT landscapes and performing “architecture archaeology” to identify the best solutions for clients, teams, and systems.

  • Interest in supporting sales processes, with experience working closely with clients and translating their needs into effective solutions.

  • Excellent German and good English communication skills, both written and spoken (C1)

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to combine strategic vision with practical implementation requirements.

  • Passion for your field and a willingness to continuously learn, apply knowledge, and share it with others.

What we offer:

  • Freedom to develop and implement your own ideas.

  • Exciting career opportunities through internal growth and mobility.

  • Flexible working models, including time-off compensation.

  • Paid professional development, international learning hubs, 6 Learning & Development days per year, and a vibrant developer community.

  • An open and supportive company culture with regular team events.

  • Personal mentoring through a buddy program.

  • Transparency across all levels of the organization.

  • Modern office equipment and workspace setup.

  • Sports and wellness programs, including office yoga, gym memberships, and more.

  • The option to take a sabbatical.

  • Childcare support or childcare allowance.

In short: we offer a workplace where you truly matter. ✨
