Upstream Maintenance Planner

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 5–10 years experience in maintenance planning for oil and gas production facilities.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA (Plant Maintenance module) or similar CMMS.
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience tuning maintenance plans to account for extreme weather conditions and logistic challenges due to remote environment.

Requirements:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance plans and job strategies in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring standardized planning processes.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work by defining job scopes, sequencing, labor, materials, tools, contractor support, permits, and safety requirements to ensure efficient execution.
  • Maintain accurate equipment data, task lists, maintenance history, and documentation in the CMMS to support effective planning and reliability; manage maintenance backlog, KPIs, and schedule compliance, adjusting plans as needed to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to prioritize activities, align on plans, and ensure seamless execution; manage spare parts planning and logistics, and support shutdowns and major maintenance campaigns in compliance with HSE, PTW, and procedures.

Job description

Purpose of the Upstream Maintenance Planner Position is to 

plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable operation of oil and gas production facilities while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime using SAP S/4HANA as the CMMS.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance plans and job strategies in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring standardized, reliable planning processes.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work by defining job scopes, sequencing, labor, materials, tools, contractor support, permits, and safety requirements to ensure efficient execution.
  • Maintain accurate equipment data, task lists, maintenance history, and documentation in the CMMS to support effective planning and reliability.
  • Manage maintenance backlog, KPIs, and schedule compliance, adjusting plans as needed to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate and align with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to prioritize activities, drive consensus, and ensure seamless execution of maintenance work.
  • Manage spare parts planning, material reservations, and logistics to ensure resource availability, particularly in remote or challenging environments.
  • Support and plan shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance campaigns in compliance with HSE, PTW, and operational procedures.
  • Identify process gaps and implement structured improvements to enhance planning accuracy, resource utilization, equipment reliability, and overall accountability within the maintenance function.

Job Requirements

  • 5–10 years experience in maintenance planning for oil & gas production facilities.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA (Plant Maintenance module) or similar CMMS.
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience working on projects involving Production Facilities onshore that include well sites (in remote locations)

Experience tuning Maintenance plans to account for extreme weather conditions and logistic challenges due to remote environment.
