Roles & Responsibilities

8+ years of professional experience in SQL development and database management, with a track record in complex database systems and data warehousing including data modeling
Proficiency in SQL and DBMS (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) with strong query tuning, indexing, and performance optimization; ability to troubleshoot complex SQL, stored procedures, and triggers
Experience with ETL processes/tools (SSIS, Informatica, Talend); knowledge of data warehousing concepts, backup/recovery, and database security (roles/permissions); scripting (Python or PowerShell) for automation
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust (MBI) clearance; strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills; capable of working independently and in a team

Requirements:

Establish database management standards, QA, guidelines, and security policies for deliverables such as conceptual design, architecture, capacity planning, data loading/maintenance plans
Translate business requirements into a logical data model and support entity relationships and data flows
Develop and maintain the database framework and physical model, including schemas, tables, columns, and reports to support the model
Provide recommendations to optimize performance, storage, vendor updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery, and participate in QA with test code in client-server environments

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establish database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and security policy
Work with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client’s entity relationship and flow of data
Develop the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model, including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables, columns, and reports that support the model
Make recommendations to maximize opening efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, and ensure recovery is maintained
Participate in quality assurance and develop test application code in client server environment

Required Skills and Experience
Proven track record of working with complex database systems and data warehousing solutions Experience with database design, architecture, and data modeling Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming and query optimization Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL Experience with performing tuning, indexing, and database query optimization techniques An ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers Familiarity with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes and tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend) An understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies Knowledge of backup and recovery processes Experience with database security, user roles, and permissions Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for database automation tasks Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Capability to work independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work An ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines A strong understanding of business processes and requirements gathering An ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers
Professional Certifications	None required, but advanced certifications in database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional) are preferred
Years of Professional Experience	Eight (8) or more years of professional experience Eight (8) or more years of experience in SQL development and database management
Desired experience	Electronic Data Interchange X.12 (EDI) Medical Claims X.12 medical claims (837, 834, 277, etc) Experience with T-SQL Experience in a high paced DevOps environment Experience working with remote U.S. based teams (Not Offshore teams) Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering/technical discipline Familiarity with cloud database solutions (e.g., Amazon Web Services Relational Database Service (AWS RDS), Azure SQL Database) Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Formal Education	Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering/technical discipline
