The Transcript Credit Evaluator will provide high quality customer assistance and support to the University with operational tasks as directed. The primary role of the Transcript Credit Evaluator is to implement the admissions requirements and academic policies and philosophies related to providing, recording and reporting student credit. The Transcript Credit Evaluator must possess a strong understanding of curriculum and common course numbering, along with articulation agreements in place with University of the Cumberlands to accurately evaluate student academic documents. The Transcript Credit Evaluator is responsible for the independent review, evaluation, and determination of course equivalencies for traditional and non-traditional credit experiences for prospective, matriculated, and currently enrolled students.

The Transcript Credit Evaluator utilizes independent professional judgment based on broad knowledge of University academic policies to process requests, devise solutions, and provide direction for students, parents, faculty, and administrative staff on issues related to the transfer and applicability of academic credit. They will act as a liaison for the Records and Registration department and respond to transfer credit-related questions and issues in a professional manner, as well as coordinate responses and/or direct communications to appropriate campus partners, as necessary. They will exercise autonomy and sound decision making in analyzing issues, developing solutions, and providing direction to all constituencies regarding resolution.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate the transfer credit evaluation process by evaluating courses completed at regionally and nationally accredited colleges and universities.
  • Facilitate and process course substitutions completed at regionally and nationally accredited colleges and universities.
  • Evaluate credit from several sources such as AP, CLEP, DSST, military credit and other non-traditional learning environments in accordance with university policy. Research and gather additional information from faculty and other colleges as necessary to analyze and verify complex transfer credit cases.
  • Collaborate with professional staff members on the retrieval and imaging of incoming documents in support of the transfer process.
  • Maintain accurate record of transfer equivalents in the articulation database and college ERP and any applicable specialized software. Continue to assess current processes and recommend changes, as needed.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a comprehensive communication plan for transfer students.
  • Effectively communicate with Admissions and Academic Affairs to facilitate the evaluation process for transfer credits that require input and approval. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as a resource to various university constituents.
  • Ability to answer questions from internal and external partners and understand the interconnectivity between departments relating to transfer students.
  • Maintain transfer@ucumberlands.edu email account.
  • Understanding of general institutional record keeping policies.
  • Participate in committees and meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of experience in a higher education setting and preferably one year directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail with demonstrated collaborative and coordinative skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
