Job description

This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Calix is looking for a Summer Intern to join our Content Marketing team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.

As part of this internship, you will work closely with our content marketing team to conduct a comprehensive content audit and help strengthen the systems and processes that keep our content operation running efficiently. We are looking for someone who is passionate about content strategy, not just content creation and who finds satisfaction in building structure, improving workflows, and thinking about content at scale. This is an exciting opportunity for any aspiring Marketing, English, or Communications student to gain real hands-on experience in content strategy and content operations inside a high growth, fast paced technology company.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead a full content audit across channels, including website, blog, gated resources, and email, evaluating assets for relevance, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with current messaging.
  • Build and maintain a content inventory to catalog asset type, topic, owner, publish date, status, and recommended action.
  • Identify content gaps and deliver a final audit report with prioritized recommendations.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining project management templates and workflows in Workfront.
  • Support content governance initiatives including naming conventions, taxonomy, and process documentation.
  • Assist with organizing and tagging assets in our content library or CMS.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and support content operations projects.
  • Assist with light research, content briefs, or copywriting as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism degree with a preference for Juniors and Seniors with prior internship experience.
  • Collaborative and curious, with a genuine interest in the strategic side of content work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage structured systems.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a sharp eye for clarity and consistency.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience working in spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) to manage and analyze data.
  • Workfront, Asana, or other project management tool experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with content management systems or digital asset management tools is a plus.
  • Experience working with major generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or Gemini) and openness to experimenting with AI applications specific to content, marketing, and workflow automation is a plus.
  • Experience in a role or project requiring analytical problem solving and structured thinking.
  • Able to work effectively with a high tolerance for ambiguity within fast changing environments.
  • Microsoft Office software suite experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to work for the complete summer break (May – August or June – September).
