Job Specific Working Conditions:

Greensboro Young Life is prayerfully seeking an YoungLives Coordinator to join our collaborative leadership team. Greensboro is known for rich cultural diversity, strong Christian faith communities, Civil Rights heritage, and affordable living with big city perks. Greensboro is centrally located in the heart of North Carolina with easy access to major cities and driving distance to both the mountains and the coast.

Greensboro Young Life is steeped in legacy, with robust Young Life ministry in the community since 1957. Greensboro Young Life has a staff team of 4 full time staff and 1 part time staff. Currently there are 6 high school ministries and 2 Wyldlife ministries. Greensboro is ready for a part-time YoungLives coordinator to restart the YoungLives ministry in our city. There is funding and a YoungLives committee to support the new role. YoungLives exists for expectant and parenting adolescents to grow in faith, grow in life, and grow in leadership.

This role will be the head of Greensboro YoungLives and oversee all YoungLives programming and development, under the direction of the Area Director and in collaboration with the North Carolina YoungLives Regional Coordinator.

YoungLives Coordinator

Summary:

The YoungLives coordinator serves, in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures established by mission leadership, to develop and sustain YoungLives ministries in the respective areas.


 

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health and church relationships.

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.

  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.

  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.

  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

  • Ensure that all YoungLives ministry in the area is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Leadership Development — “Equipping mentors, volunteers, and the community” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision and vision casting.

  • ​Meet with mentors, childcare and other volunteer leaders on a regular basis.

  • Assist in recruiting and training mentors, childcare and other volunteers to build leadership teams that reflect the community.

  • Attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned.

  • Assist in the training of committee, mentors, childcare and other volunteers how to work effectively in teams.

  • Model excellence in contact work, club, campaigners and camping to mentors, childcare and other volunteers.

  • Train and lead a team of mentors, childcare and other volunteers in developing a yearly ministry strategy.

Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes fundraising events, major donor care, public relations (branding), and personal fundraising support.

  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices in collaboration with the YoungLives committee

  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donors and partners.

  • Observe and learn principles to develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including: principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members and more as assigned by the area director.

  • Learn to plan and execute area fundraising events with collaboration of the YoungLives committee and support and direction of the Area Director

  • Become a respected Young Life steward to the community for both kids and adults.

  • Work with YoungLives committee chair to ensure the health and participation of the YoungLives committee.

  • Collaborate and communicate with the local Young Life committee.

  • Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers and other applicable community organizations.

Direct Ministry — “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, campaigners and camp.

  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

  • Lead a team to plan and implement a regular outreach meeting with excellence.

  • Lead campaigners meetings with excellence as assigned by the area director.

  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for YoungLives.

  • Lead YoungLives school season and summer camp trips each year.

Ministry Support — “Taking care of business” includes accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management and strategic plan.

Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management.

  • Ensure that YoungLives health and safety policies are followed.

  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the mission-wide applications with guidance of YoungLives committee.

  • Maintain accurate information on kids, babies, leaders and donors for area records.

  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.

  • Set yearly a strategic ministry plan and initiatives to reach adolescent parents; review them on a regular basis.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience and area needs.

  • Accept both short and long-term assignments of projects.

Training:

  • Completion of Field Leadership Training Course in first year 

  • Attend YoungLives trainings as directed by the YoungLives regional and/or divisional coordinator.

  • Participation in additional training or experiences if deemed necessary (e.g., Mosaic Conference, or other YoungLives conference opportunities).

  • Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.

Education:

  • College degree preferred.

  • Completion of training as determined by supervisor and Regional YoungLives Coordinator.

Qualifications Required For The Job:

YoungLives Coordinator

Summary:

  • Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers and other applicable community organizations.

  • Training:
  • Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate.

  • Core Training — phase one to be completed as a Staff Associate

  • Attend YoungLives trainings as directed by the YoungLives regional and/or divisional coordinator.

  • Participation in missionwide staff conference every four years.

  • Participation in additional training or experiences if deemed necessary (e.g., more urban exposure; Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) training).

  • Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.

  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities including graduate degrees.


  • Education:
  • College degree preferred.

  • Completion of training as determined by supervisor.
