Cure SMA is seeking a Director, Individual Giving, who will partner with the Senior Director, Major Giving, Chief Development Officer and individual giving team in creating a nationwide strategy aimed at increasing individual and major giving, while strengthening existing donor relationships. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser who has an excellent track record of revenue growth year over year, able to prospect, cultivate and close five to seven figure gifts. This role will also be responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with potential and existing Cure SMA supporters. This role will also collaborate closely with the VP, Development & Marketing, developing year-round annual giving, year-end, and direct mail campaigns.

Essential Function/Responsibility:
- The right candidate will collaborate with the Sr. Director, Major Giving to develop and implement a comprehensive year-round plan to achieve revenue goals including, but not limited to annual giving, major gifts, special campaigns, and planned giving. Manage a personal portfolio of $250K+ annually in the first year, growing with the expansion of the major gift team, personally managing a portfolio of $1M+ in five years. Work toward a growth of individual giving overall with the team of $5M+ in gifts annually by 2030.
- Support the individual giving fundraising strategy for the Major Gifts team program, implementing the vision for revenue growth and ensuring alignment with Cure SMA’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure ongoing discovery of new major and principal gift prospects, using Salesforce, WealthEngine, and other sources, as well as ongoing evaluation of existing donors that may have greater capacity. Maintain current knowledge of important developments and strategic goals from different departments to use in donor conversations.
- In collaboration with development and marcom team members, develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for staff, including year-round stewardship and recognition opportunities.?
- Fundraising Activity. This role will identify and execute the necessary cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities required to maintain and grow support from fundraising events. Collaborating with fundraising team members, this role will help conduct exploratory meetings and use wealth management software systems to generate new partnerships and relationships.
- Collaboration with development department staff including coaching and mentoring development team members in best practices for planned giving, donor cultivation and succession planning for current and new community members.
- In collaboration with the development team leadership, the Director will track progress towards goals and adjusting as needed to ensure successful achievement of revenue targets.
- In collaboration with the Sr, Director, design, implement and manage the planned giving program.
- In partnership with the Sr. Director, develop plans for blended gift strategies.
- Perform other duties and work on additional projects as assigned.?
- Frequent travel required – minimum 30%.
Minimum Experience/Skills/Competencies Required
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising including experience working with high wealth donors, providing excellent stewardship to an established portfolio.
- Proven experience working with various types of donors; including outstanding ability to establish relationships, developing tailored cultivation and donor relationship strategies.
- Experience with moves management and planned giving strategies using Salesforce.?
- Self-starter, motivated individual with the ability to set goals and take action to achieve goals. Able to prioritize, schedule, manage, and monitor multiple projects.
- Able to establish strong collaborative relationships and work with others in a cooperative and effective manner.?
- Able to work and communicate with a wide range of internal and external community members.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Examples of previous work including campaign, and donor ask materials and collaterals may be asked for during the recruiting process.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, Salesforce, Double the Donation, other CRM tools, donation match and wealth management systems.
Technical/Other:
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools, fundraising platforms, and CRM systems. Experience with Salesforce, Double the Donation, and Wealth Engine is a plus, but not required.
Responsibility for Managing Resources:
While the position does not have direct oversight of the organization's overall budget or financial resources, there is a level of responsibility for managing funds within the scope of individual giving initiatives, grant projects, and fundraising activities. This entails exercising prudence and accountability in handling financial resources to support the mission and goals of Cure SMA effectively.

The position requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiating skills, good judgment in making decisions independently, and an ability to establish and maintain positive professional working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but requires walking, sitting, traveling, and occasionally standing, bending, reaching, lifting boxes, and unloading supplies. Requires the ability to lift 25 pounds or less. Must have access to high-speed internet when working from home.

The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000, annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
