Payroll Specialist (Remote – Government Contracting)
Location: Fully Remote (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PST)
Salary Range: $65,000

Our HR team is structured to ensure compliance, employee satisfaction, and operational excellence. As part of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing, government contract compliance, and reporting.
Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing accurate and compliant payroll across multiple contracts, including union and prevailing wage agreements. This role will ensure payroll aligns with Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determinations, union rules, and government contract requirements. You will work closely with HR Generalist and Benefits & Compliance HR to maintain audit-ready records, accurate timekeeping, and correct fringe benefit allocation.
This is a fully remote position with regular hours Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PST.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for 150+ employees across multiple government contracts, ensuring compliance with contract-specific wage rates and union agreements.
- Maintain and update a Contract Payroll Matrix for all active contracts.
- Review and verify timecards for accuracy, including regular hours, overtime, holiday pay, and union differentials.
- Ensure Health & Welfare fringe benefit allocations are accurate and compliant with SCA and union requirements.
- Maintain and update payroll records in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Audit payroll prior to each pay period for errors or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with HR Generalist and Benefits & Compliance Specialist on employee pay issues, timekeeping, and wage determinations.
- Assist in payroll reporting for audits, government compliance, and management reviews.
- Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including prevailing wage laws.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years of payroll experience, preferably in government contracting or union environments.
- Knowledge of Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance, prevailing wage, and union payroll.
- Experience in Paycom
- Strong understanding of payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
- High attention to detail and ability to audit payroll records.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing payroll for multiple contracts simultaneously.
- Familiarity with payroll audits and compliance reporting.
- Experience implementing payroll systems and controls in growing companies
