Who are we?
Newmedica are one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health.
We care for thousands of NHS and private patients a year in our specialist eye clinics across the country.
We are thrilled to say that following an independently conducted survey of Newmedica colleagues to tell us what it’s like to work here, we have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the third year running. The feedback has directly contributed to Newmedica being listed among the UK’s top 50 Best Workplaces™ for 2025.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Owner to join our team. This is a full-time remote role with travel when required.
Overview of the role
As Product Owner, you will be responsible for maximising the value delivered by Newmedica’s digital and technology products, with a core focus on our Electronic Patient Record (EPR). You will own the product vision and roadmap, ensuring solutions deliver measurable business and clinical outcomes aligned to company strategy.
Acting as the bridge between stakeholders and delivery teams, you will maintain a prioritised product backlog, champion user-centred design, and lead the delivery of product increments to a consistently high standard.
This is a highly collaborative role, requiring strong analytical skills, confident decision making and the ability to translate complex needs into clear, actionable requirements.
So what will I be doing?
You will work closely with clinical, operational, technical and supplier teams to understand challenges and gather requirements, translating these into clear user stories and decisions. You’ll lead sprint ceremonies, guide delivery teams, and validate product increments to ensure they meet quality and acceptance standards.
Your work will involve championing user centred design, using research, feedback and data to inform decisions and drive improvements. You will support effective change management by hosting Change Triage and Change Board meetings. You’ll‑ also ensure products meet NHS, clinical and regulatory requirements, while promoting consistent product practices and looking for opportunities to streamline processes and enhance collaboration.
What experience do I need?
You will bring accredited Product Owner training, such as CSPO or PSPO, along with a degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience. You should have a strong track record of delivering digital products in fast‑ paced environments and experience working with cross‑ ‑functional teams using Agile methodologies.
Familiarity with backlog management tools, including platforms like Jira, is important, and while healthcare or regulated industry‑ experience would be beneficial, it is not essential.
You will need strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to facilitate‑ discussions, manage stakeholders and navigate challenging conversations.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail oriented and able to prioritise effectively. You should be comfortable solving complex problems, continuously looking for ways to improve how you and others work, and confident in coaching teams to adopt a product‑ led mindset. Self‑ m‑otivation and proactive personal development are essential to success in this role.
What can we offer you?
Our employment offers are subject to receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for.
At Newmedica, we actively promote diversity and equal opportunities, and we are committed to this in both the running of our services and how we recruit our staff.
