Requirements:

  • Own retention calendar for assigned clients, manage timelines, lead calendar walkthroughs, ensure on-time, error-free sends, and follow up on assets and approvals to protect timelines
  • Develop and write clear, persuasive, on-brand email and SMS copy, own copy elements (headlines, body, CTAs), and submit detailed copy briefs in ClickUp; collaborate with designers and Account Managers
  • Thoroughly QA campaigns and flows using a structured checklist, including creative QA, functional QA, and scheduling QA; document findings and tag stakeholders for review
  • Manage execution of email and SMS campaigns and automated flows across platforms (Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript) and maintain operational precision across all sends while aligning with client strategy

Job description

This role is open to candidates based in LATAM, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Please note that as this role supports U.S.-based clients, candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with the client’s time zone.


Our client is a dynamic, performance-driven team supporting fast-growing DTC e-commerce brands through strategic lifecycle and retention marketing. They specialize in high-converting email and SMS programs that drive engagement, revenue, and long-term customer value. Operating in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, they combine strategy, creativity, and operational excellence to deliver measurable results for their clients.

Role Overview

The Email Strategist will own email and SMS campaigns, from writing copy to platform management (e.g., Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript), and will execute high-performing email campaigns and automated flows that engage customers, drive conversions, and support DTC e-commerce brands. This role works closely with Lifecycle Marketing Strategists and cross-functional team members to manage retention calendars, write persuasive on-brand email and SMS copy, ensure flawless QA, and maintain operational precision across all sends.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign & Calendar Ownership

  • Own the retention calendar for assigned clients and maintain full visibility into timelines.

  • Lead calendar walkthroughs during weekly or bi-weekly client calls.

  • Ensure every email and SMS is sent on time, error-free, and aligned with strategy.

  • Proactively follow up on assets, approvals, and feedback to protect timelines and execution.

Copywriting & Creative Production

  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s brand voice, audience, and conversion goals.

  • Write clear, persuasive, on-brand email and SMS copy for campaigns and flows.

  • Own all copy components, including headlines, body copy, CTAs, and secondary modules.

  • Translate strategy into execution by submitting detailed and thoughtful copy briefs in ClickUp, including layout direction, hierarchy, inspiration, and brand considerations.

  • Collaborate closely with designers and Account Managers to bring campaigns to life.

Quality Assurance

  • Thoroughly QA every campaign and flow using a structured checklist.

  • Conduct creative QA, including spelling, grammar, pricing, product names, imagery, and brand accuracy.

  • Perform functional QA, including rendering across devices, links, landing pages, personalization, segmentation, and dynamic content.

  • Complete scheduling QA, including sender details, audiences, suppressions, timing, and timezone accuracy.

  • Clearly document QA findings and tag internal stakeholders for final review.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 4+ years of email marketing and copywriting experience, preferably in-house at DTC brands or agencies.

  • Hands-on experience with Klaviyo is a must.

  • Proven experience building, scheduling, and deploying email marketing campaigns and automated flows within email platforms.

  • 2+ years of experience in retention marketing across email, SMS, CRM, or loyalty programs.

  • Experience working within Shopify or directly supporting Shopify-based clients.

Skills

  • Strong direct-to-consumer (DTC) copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different client brands.

  • Solid understanding of email analytics and ability to translate data insights into actionable strategy.

  • Clear understanding of the difference between marketing campaigns and automated flows, and when to deploy each.

  • Proficiency in building segmented customer lists using behavioral and transactional data.

  • Proactive, organized approach with the ability to think through the entire customer journey.

  • Strong collaboration and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and curious mindset with a passion for design, creativity, and popular culture.
