Requirements:

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and performance evaluations for Virtual Instructors, partnering with the Manager of Virtual Instruction and District General Manager
  • Manage learning paths for Virtual Instructors and deliver/train programs (Virtual Facilitation Skills, Train-the-Trainer, Dress Rehearsal, Mentoring); oversee instructor compensation (addenda, contract pay, hourly pay)
  • Monitor and develop performance: review scorecards, observe and rate instructors against competencies, address underperformance with corrective actions, and assign instructors to meet enrollment demands; conduct year-end evaluations and development plans
  • Serve as liaison to Learning Development; coordinate scheduling, facilities selection, setup, and equipment; conduct team meetings; develop course training method analyses and success measures; provide feedback to Tax Training instructional designers

As a seasonal Virtual Instructor Supervisor, you will lead the recruitment, selection, training, and performance management of a team of Virtual Instructors to ensure high-quality instructional delivery. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations including onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and performance evaluations, while collaborating with leadership to align instructional talent with business needs. This role is key to maintaining instructional excellence and supporting continuous improvement in virtual learning experiences. 

 

Location: 100% remote

 

Day to day, you’ll… 

  • Identify, recruit, interview, and assess high-caliber Virtual Instructors based on competencies and content demand, in partnership with the Manager of Virtual Instruction and District General Manager (DGM) 

  • Manage the learning paths of Virtual Instructors 

  • Deliver and manage company training programs (Virtual Facilitation Skills, Train-the-Trainer, Dress Rehearsal, Mentoring) 

  • Analyze and evaluate individual needs to develop or identify current or potential offerings that meet those needs 

  • Conduct team meetings to share learnings and set expectations 

  • Serve as a liaison to the Learning Development department 

  • Provide guidance for scheduling, classroom/facilities selection, setup, and equipment

  • Coordinate addendum, contract pay, and hourly pay for instructors 

  • Develop course training method analysis and success measures to provide feedback to Tax Training instructional designers 

  • Review instructor scorecards (surveys, tests, and conversion data) 

  • Observe, coach, and rate instructors against necessary competencies 

  • Partner with the Manager of Virtual Instruction to address under-performing instructors and take corrective action, if necessary 

  • Assign instructors based on need and performance to meet enrollment demands 

  • Conduct year-end performance evaluations and develop individual development plans 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

What you'll bring to the team...:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group; ability to lead in a matrix environment and at a distance (virtually)
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills; ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated effectiveness in presenting complex information to multiple organizational levels, with strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of instructor and/or presenter evaluation programs, needs assessment theory, and relevant principles, practices and techniques
  • Training project and team management experience; ability to identify potential risks associated with a proposed training initiative and recommend alternative actions; demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
It would be even better if you also had...:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, adult learning or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring instructor and/or presenter evaluation systems; knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design theory, principles, practices, and techniques
  • 3 years H&R Block tax office experience

Pay Range Information: The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Pay Range: $21.59 - $32.40/Hr.
