Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to accurately assign medical codes and support the claims process. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with medical coding systems and familiarity with Athenahealth. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of coding guidelines, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.

• Enter and manage coded data and claims in Athenahealth.

• Ensure coding practices comply with payer guidelines and HIPAA regulations.

• Review medical records for completeness and accuracy of documentation.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify or resolve documentation discrepancies.

• Maintain accuracy and efficiency in coding while meeting productivity standards.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of medical coding experience.

• Hands-on experience or familiarity with Athenahealth.

• Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently in a remote environment (if applicable).
