About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on, and execution-focused AVP – Quality Assurance to lead the end-to-end quality strategy for our product portfolio. This role will be responsible for building scalable QA frameworks, the ability to lead by implementing new AI frameworks in the QA vertical. driving automation excellence, ensuring product reliability, and embedding quality as a core pillar across the product lifecycle.

We are looking for a go-getter with a strong exploratory mindset, capable of identifying opportunities, building deep product mastery, and operating effectively at both strategic and tactical levels.

The individual should be comfortable playing the role of an Individual Contributor (IC) while also stepping into a Manager or Leader role as and when required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and implement the organization-wide QA vision and long-term quality roadmap.
  • Establish scalable quality processes aligned with business and product goals.
  • Champion a “Shift-Left” and quality-first culture across teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across testing methodologies and standards.

2. Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build, mentor, and scale high-performing QA teams (manual, automation, performance, and security testing).
  • Establish career frameworks, skill matrices, and succession planning.
  • Lead performance management and quarterly reviews for QA leaders and managers.
  • Foster accountability, ownership, and engineering excellence.

3. Automation & Technical Excellence

  • Evaluate and adopt modern testing tools, frameworks, and AI-driven testing practices.
  • Drive automation strategy across UI, API, integration, and performance layers.
  • Improve test coverage and reduce regression cycle time.
  • Ensure CI/CD integration of automated test suites.

4. Product Quality & Risk Management

  • Define quality gates, release criteria, and go-live standards.
  • Establish measurable KPIs (defect leakage, automation coverage, MTTR, test reliability).
  • Drive root cause analysis and preventive quality measures.
  • Oversee non-functional testing (performance, scalability, security, reliability).

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure testability and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Work with DevOps to enhance release pipelines and deployment stability.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to monitor production issues and improve customer experience.
  • Represent QA in executive reviews and board-level discussions.

6. Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC2).
  • Oversee audit readiness and documentation practices.
  • Implement robust quality documentation and traceability frameworks.
  • Proactively identify product risks before customer impact.

7. Performance Management & Coaching

  • Set clear quarterly and annual OKRs for QA teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and leadership coaching sessions.
  • Drive a culture of feedback, ownership, and accountability.
  • Identify high-potential talent and create development plans.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10-15+ years of experience in Quality Assurance within product-based organizations.
  • 5+ Years in Automation QA
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing multi-layered QA teams for the Engineering team that are building Product at Scale.
  • Proven experience building QA organizations from scale-up to enterprise level.
  • Strong understanding of modern automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.
  • Experience in SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environments preferred.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills.
