Title: Back End Developer / Engineer III
Location: New York, NY (Remote)

The Role
We are looking for a senior backend engineer (contractor) who can onboard quickly, operate independently, and proactively identify where their effort will have the most impact.
You'll work closely with the Warpspeed team to evolve Gantry, accelerate service migrations that enable the monorepo transition, and support internal engineering teams through complex deployment and infrastructure changes.

What You'll Do
- Design, build, and operate Go-based Kubernetes operators and backend services
- Extend Gantry's core capabilities
- Drive and execute migrations to Gantry
- Build, operate, and improve AI-powered agents that automate migrations, review PRs, and assist with deployment troubleshooting
- Support internal teams by troubleshooting deployment issues and unblocking releases
- Take operational ownership of team-owned services
- Proactively identify and tackle the highest-impact problems in the deployment and migration workflow

Who You Are
- A senior, self-directed backend engineer who onboards quickly and operates with high autonomy
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and deciding what to work on without heavy direction
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure (GCP preferred)
- Proficient in Go (Python a plus) and distributed systems
- Experienced with Kubernetes operators, GitOps, and ArgoCD-style workflows
- Experience building or maintaining AI/LLM-powered automation, agents, or developer tooling
- Pragmatic problem solver with clear communication skills
- Enjoys enabling other engineers and improving developer productivity
