Job Role: Senior Editor

Compensation range: $3,500 AUD - $5,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Editor to lead the refinement, quality control, and publication readiness of AI-assisted content for mining industry communications. This role is responsible for transforming AI-generated drafts and company press releases into accurate, compliant, and high-quality human-finished content suitable for public distribution.

The Senior Editor will also function as a Managing Editor, overseeing workflow, implementing editorial standards, and managing escalation processes for sensitive or price-sensitive announcements.

Key Responsibilities: 

Editorial & Content Refinement

  • Edit and refine AI-generated drafts of mining industry announcements to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professionalism
    Rewrite and enhance company press releases, particularly for ASX-listed and TSX-listed mining companies
  • Eliminate generic or low-quality AI phrasing (“AI slop”) and elevate content to publication standard
  • Ensure tone aligns with market expectations for investor-facing communications

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Maintain high editorial standards for grammar, structure, factual consistency, and technical accuracy
  • Identify potential legal, regulatory, or price-sensitive issues in content
  • Apply best practices for public company announcements within Australian and Canadian markets

Escalation & Risk Management

  • Implement and manage a clear triage and escalation structure
  • Escalate sensitive or potentially price-sensitive material to the onshore compliance/review team
  • Flag ambiguous, incomplete, or high-risk information prior to publication

Workflow & Team Oversight

  • Act as Managing Editor overseeing editorial workflow and task allocation
  • Monitor turnaround times and ensure deadlines are met
  • Continuously improve editorial processes and AI usage frameworks
  • Provide guidance and feedback to junior editors or content contributors

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in editing, journalism, investor communications, or financial content
  • Experience editing corporate announcements or press releases for publicly listed companies
  • Strong understanding of mining industry terminology and reporting conventions
  • Familiarity with Australian and/or Canadian market disclosure standards
  • Exceptional written English and editorial judgment
  • Ability to identify reputational and compliance risks in public communications
    Strong workflow management and decision-making skills

Preferred:

  • Background in mining, resources, geology, or financial markets
  • Experience working with AI-generated content and editorial automation tools
  • Prior Managing Editor or senior editorial leadership experience
