Iron Mountain is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Technical Accounting to join our Global Controllership team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the company's interpretation, application, and documentation of complex US GAAP. You will serve as a primary resource for emerging technical accounting issues across all corporate functions and core/emerging businesses, directly supporting the company's financial reporting process.

The Global Controllership team works closely with Regional Controllership, Accounting teams, and external auditors to maintain the quality and consistency of accounting practices and policies across all business units.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a key member of the Global Controllership team, acting as a primary resource for identifying, interpreting, and driving resolution of emerging technical accounting issues across the Company’s corporate functions (including real estate, HR, IT, finance, legal, and others) as well as our core and developing businesses.
  • Support the application of a broad range of US GAAP standards and interpretations—such as business combinations, leases, PP&E, segment reporting, exit and disposal activities, contingencies, stock-based compensation, derivatives, software, and income taxes—and document conclusions in detailed technical accounting memorandums shared with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment in accounting practices and policy application across all business units.
  • Manage key aspects of our relationship with Deloitte & Touche LLP, including supporting audit planning and scope, tracking fees for Audit Committee preapproval and proxy disclosure, coordinating quarterly review and annual audit meetings, and driving issue resolution. You will work closely with Regional Controllership & Accounting teams and our finance shared-services Outsource Provider to support the global audit of the Company and its consolidated subsidiaries.
  • Serve as a liaison to designated centers of excellence, ensuring that material issues impacting the Company’s consolidated financial reporting are identified early and resolved promptly.
  • Take ownership of various ad-hoc monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual projects that help maintain the quality, consistency, and rigor of our accounting practices, policies, judgments, assumptions, and review protocols across business units.
  • Partnering with Investor Relations, you will ensure alignment between GAAP and non-GAAP reporting across SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K), supplemental reporting, and other investor-facing materials.
  • Support Regional Controllership & Accounting teams and the Outsource Provider in assessing issues identified at the country or business-unit level and determining whether they have broader implications across the Group.
  • Support the Company’s financial reporting process for quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Provide SEC reporting and technical accounting leadership to the Treasury function on equity and debt offerings, including reviewing offering documents and supporting due-diligence and auditor comfort letter processes. This support may also extend to regional and country-level activities, particularly given our REIT structure and evolving global financing strategy.
  • Lead the Company’s adoption of new accounting standards as they are issued.

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10-12 years of experience
  • CPA required
  • Combined minimum of 10 years of financial statement audit and reporting experience at a public accounting firm and/or a large, multi-national public company, including 5 years at a manager level or above.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, extensive audit experience, and broad and comprehensive understanding of key functional areas relevant to the business.
  • Ability to lead the interpretation, implementation and documentation of new and existing accounting standards.
  • Frequent interaction with other corporate departments, business units and senior management and a broad understanding of their role and contributions to the operation of the Company.
  • Complex judgments, in depth analysis, interpretative thinking and the ability to independently develop innovative solutions.

  • 100% remote opportunity
  • Competitive compensation and benefits aligned with the experience.
  • Comprehensive health, wellness, and retirement plans.
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth.

If you are a proven technical accounting leader ready to drive the application of complex US GAAP standards for a global leader in information management, apply today!
