Job description


Overview

Razor is seeking an Automotive/Crash Safety Engineer to support the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). This fully remote role requires comprehensive professional-level knowledge of engineering theories, techniques, and analytical methods. The NCAP Engineer will support work related to crash avoidance technology, production safety, rollover crash assessments, lane departure warning systems, rollover crash avoidance, and side airbag testing.
Education & Certification Requirements
B.S. degree preferred.
Clearance Requirements
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
Onsite Requirements
100% remote.
Responsibilities
  • Support crash avoidance technology initiatives.
  • Contribute to production safety evaluations.
  • Perform rollover crash assessments.
  • Support lane departure warning, rollover crash avoidance, and side airbag testing activities.
  • Assist with development of analysis plans, research report reviews, data aggregation, and analysis of evolving motor vehicle safety technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of presentations and technical reports.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of motor vehicle transportation–related research and engineering.
  • Strong understanding or experience with vehicle crashworthiness and restraint systems, full-scale crash testing, component-level testing, NCAP and FMVSS test procedures, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of or experience with ADAS.
  • Experience with lane departure warning, rollover crash avoidance, and side airbag testing.
  • Experience developing analysis plans and reviewing research reports.
  • Ability to assimilate, aggregate, and analyze evolving vehicle safety technologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience or aptitude with CISS, CRSS, or crash-related data files (FHWA, Census Bureau, R.L. Polk).
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • High proficiency in MS Office.
