Title: Senior Training Manager, Commercial Learning & Development – HIV
Duration: 18 months Contract
Location: Remote (25–30% travel)
Position Summary
The Senior Training Manager, Commercial Learning & Development – HIV will report to the Director of Commercial Learning & Development for the HIV Business Unit. This role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and sustainment of training curricula supporting the Client Field Commercial Organization within the HIV Business Unit. The position plays a critical role in enabling commercial success through high-impact learning strategies aligned with therapeutic, product, and selling excellence. Travel is required to support training events, meetings, and launch activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and collaborate on the development and implementation of knowledge- and skill-based training focused on disease state, therapeutic, and product knowledge for commercial field sales
• Develop and execute training programs with a strong focus on new hire onboarding programs, including "Accelerate,” as well as account management, product knowledge, new promotional campaigns, product launches, communication skills, selling skills, phased training initiatives, sales meeting workshops, and ongoing learning sustainment programs
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal partners including Marketing, Commercial (Field Sales, National Accounts, Regional Trainers), Commercial Operations, Global Learning & Development, Medical Information, Legal, Business Conduct, and Regulatory teams
• Partner with Compliance, Legal, Marketing, and Medical Information to ensure all training materials and programs are accurate, effective, and compliant with regulatory guidelines
• Manage and collaborate with external vendors to design curricula, instructional strategies, and training materials using adult learning principles
• Conduct needs assessments, identify target learner characteristics, and incorporate cross-functional feedback into training design and strategy
• Identify and recommend solutions to bridge gaps between current organizational capabilities and future business needs
• Ensure organizational readiness for training deployment by identifying stakeholders and proactively assessing their needs
• Analyze learning technologies and their application in instructional design and training delivery
• Partner with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify training needs, enhance learning solutions, and lead change initiatives
• Maintain alignment with the Commercial organization's strategic training plan while balancing short-term and long-term business objectives
• Manage training budgets aligned with curriculum development, sales meetings, and POA activities
Knowledge and Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Teams, and PowerPoint, particularly for instructional content development
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines while delivering high-quality results
• Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously with professionalism and persistence
• Proven ability to build consensus, gain alignment, and lead without direct authority
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Comfort working with stakeholders at all organizational levels globally, including vendors and external partners
• Ability to manage projects from initiation through delivery, including live and virtual training formats
• Experience managing multiple vendors from selection through final deliverables
• Performance-focused mindset with the ability to define clear learning objectives and outcomes
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma with 12+ years of relevant experience OR
• Associate Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience OR
• Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR
• Master's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience OR
• PhD
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree with 6+ years of experience in a related field
• 5+ years of commercial pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience
• 3+ years of successful field sales experience
• 1+ year of prior commercial training experience
• Experience in HIV strongly preferred; launch experience preferred
• Sales, marketing, or training experience in a competitive biotech or pharmaceutical environment
