Process SME – Blade Manufacturing (Non-IT)
Location: Atlanta, GA (Remote)
Duration: 12+ months
Client is seeking an experienced Process Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong functional expertise in blade manufacturing. The role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes, improving quality, reducing costs, and ensuring operational excellence across blade production lines. This is a core manufacturing/process role and not an IT position.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the functional expert for end-to-end blade manufacturing processes
• Lead process optimization initiatives to improve productivity, yield, and cycle time.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and process validation activities.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Standardize SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects and customer complaints.
• Mentor and train shop floor teams on process best practices.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
• 8–15 years of hands-on experience in blade manufacturing (e.g., turbine blades, compressor blades, fan blades, industrial cutting blades, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, machining, grinding, heat treatment, surface finishing, coating, and inspection.
• Experience with process validation, PFMEA, control plans, and quality systems.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience in aerospace, energy, or heavy engineering blade manufacturing.
• Knowledge of CNC machining and precision manufacturing.
• Exposure to ERP systems (for process tracking – functional use only, not IT development).
• Green Belt / Black Belt certification (preferred).
