A busy, rewarding role for caring and motivated animal lovers
We’re excited to be growing the PetRehomer team! Since launching our platform in late 2022, the demand for our service has soared, and we’re now looking for dedicated, compassionate and highly motivated volunteers to join us as Rehoming Coordinators.
This is a hands-on, fast-moving role at the heart of helping dogs, cats and rabbits across the UK find safe, loving new homes. You’ll be supporting both owners who need to rehome their pets and adopters searching for a new companion.
If you're looking for something fewer hours or less responsibility, our Enquiries Administrator or Pet Listings Administrator roles may be a better fit — but for those ready to get stuck in, this role offers an incredibly meaningful way to make a real difference every day.
As a Rehoming Coordinator, your tasks may include:
Phoning people who have listed their pet to ensure they’re ready to rehome and to learn more about the pet’s needs (full training provided)
Using our database to update and manage records
Editing and improving listings with clearer information
Approving, updating or removing listings through the PetRehomer platform
Speaking and messaging with adopters
Arranging and coordinating home checks
Managing the adoption process end-to-end
Handling queries from both rehomers and adopters
This is a remote role, and while we work closely as a team, you’ll need to be comfortable working independently and proactively.
We’re looking for people who genuinely care about animals and feel confident dealing with sensitive situations. This work can be emotional, fast-paced and varied — perfect for someone who enjoys taking initiative and staying organised.
You will ideally:
Have a caring, non-judgmental approach
Be reliable, self-motivated and comfortable working independently
Have good verbal communication skills, especially over the phone
Have strong written communication skills for messages, updates and listings
Be comfortable using Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp and online systems
Be organised and able to follow processes accurately
Show patience and empathy when supporting owners and adopters
Manage multiple tasks without getting overwhelmed
Stay calm and solution-focused when unexpected issues arise
Enjoy being part of a supportive team that shares updates and collaborates
No previous animal rescue experience is required — we provide full training.
