Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Conduct thorough review of conventional precast element shop drawings focusing on lifting/handling design and temporary propping design
  • Liaise with Novus Project Manager on lifting and rigging arrangements for complex precast elements and convey requirements to the drafting team
  • Understand and apply Australian Standards AS1170.2, AS3850, AS3600, and AS4100 to temporary works design under the guidance of the Senior Product Engineer
  • Perform thorough reviews of precast element shop drawings, conduct temporary works checks to ensure stability in temporary states, verify that elements fit together, and assess drawings for readability and quality control

ABOUT THE CLIENT:  

Our Client manufactures and supplies concrete reinforcement coupler systems and ancillary items for use in the manufacture of precast concrete elements for the-construction industry. They  provides technical advice and support for the application of the coupler systems. Precast elements of the company allow for substantial programme benefits and significant safety outcomes.

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide critical support to the Senior Product Engineer and Novus Project Manager by ensuring accurate and timely review of precast shop drawings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough review of conventional precast element shop drawings with a focus on lifting+handling design and temporary propping design.

  • Lisse with Novus Project Manager on desired lifting and rigging arrangements for complex precast elements. Convey these requirements to the drafting team where required.

  • Understand and apply the following Australian Standards to temporary works design, under the guidance of the Senior ProductEngineer:

  • AS1170.2 Wind Code

  • AS3850 Prefabricated Concrete Elements

  • AS3600 Concrete Structures

  • AS4100 Steel Structures

  • Understand all stages of precast element manufacturing, transport and installation, and what lifting arrangement is required for each of these stages.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of precast element shop drawings,confirming the practicality of the elements' fit, performing Temporary works checks to ensure stability in temporary states.

    • Confirming that the elements practically fit together (can it be built?)

    • Temporary works checks (will it stand in the temporary state?)

    • Propping, lifting and handling checks (what requirements are needed for installation?)

    • Assess drawings for readability and perform a general quality control check to ensure their accuracy and completeness 

SuccessCriteria

  • Short Terms (3 Months)-

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of precast element shop drawings and what they need to convey.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of precast temporary works design for conventional elements.

  • Complete all relevant Tribal Habits platform (or similar) training.

  • Medium Term (6 Months)

    • Review conventional element shop drawings independently and communicate with project team, liaising withNovus PM and SPE where required.

  • Long Term (12 Months)

    • Provide forward looking guidance to the Novus PM and drafting team on lifting and handling design for all elements at the start of a new project, enabling faster drafting times and less re-work.

  • To obtain a “Pass” status in the Employee Performance Review(ISOPro).
