Description:

The Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Organizational Development supports student leadership development through engagement-based experiences that connect students to organizations, governance, and campus involvement pathways.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role advances access to involvement opportunities, advises College Council, collaborates on leadership education initiatives, and supports intentional engagement strategies that promote participation, belonging, and leadership capacity.
  • Contributes to the design, implementation, and assessment of leadership education initiatives embedded within student involvement and engagement experiences.
  • Develops and advances student involvement engagement pathways, including oversight of Student Involvement Fairs and related initiatives that connect students to organizations, leadership opportunities, and campus engagement.
  • Serves as the primary advisor to College Council, supporting effective student governance, leadership continuity, and alignment with institutional expectations through a high-touch, relational advising model.
  • Provides leadership and support for the development and delivery of leadership, organizational development, and student involvement initiatives, including signature programs and large-scale experiences. (Examples may include SOAR Awards, Presidents' Institute, Student Involvement Fairs, and similar initiatives).
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Leadership Education & Development to co-design and deliver leadership workshops, trainings, and learning experiences for student organization leaders and governing bodies.
  • Serves as a functional co-supervisor for Student Involvement Ambassadors, supporting workshop delivery, involvement fairs, and engagement-based leadership programming, in coordination with the primary supervisor.
  • Supports leadership education for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) through workshops, consultations, and collaborative programming that emphasize inclusive engagement, organizational effectiveness, and leadership capacity-building.
  • Advises and supports student leaders and executive boards on leadership practices, engagement strategies, event planning, and membership development.
  • Identifies opportunities for data collection and assessment related to student involvement and engagement, particularly to better understand participation patterns and under-engaged student populations.
  • Applies assessment insights and engagement trends to inform program design, outreach efforts, and continuous improvement of student involvement initiatives.
  • Partners with university colleagues to design and implement engagement initiatives that support student connection, belonging, and leadership development across the student lifecycle.
  • Contributes to the development of leadership education and engagement resources, including toolkits, workshop materials, and training content, in collaboration with departmental colleagues.
  • Stays informed about current trends and best practices in student engagement, leadership education, and student affairs to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Collaborates closely with the Associate Director of Leadership and Organizational Development and other Assistant Directors to ensure alignment across leadership education, engagement pathways, and governance initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and two years of experience working in student affairs, leadership development, or related areas within higher education or related field.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
