Position Overview
ISG is seeking individuals interested in 1099 opportunities, who have experience working as a Project Managers on ERP Higher Education projects, for their Public Sector practice.
The Project Manager (PM) will assist with project goals, objectives, project management guidelines, project standards, project scope, risk identification and mitigation, quality management, project budget, reporting and documentation. The PM will confirm that client staff and contracted resources are leveraged effectively across the project. The PM will review and recommend approval of project deliverables. Finally, the PM is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the project work plan, overseeing detailed task management, monitoring activities of the services vendor team, timelines, and risks, and has overall responsibility for reporting on status of project activities, milestones, and deliverables.
Monitoring that the project is effectively resourced and manages relationships with a wide range of groups
Coordinating the development and maintenance of project documentation
Manage the overall software and selection services process
Checking that all required project management documents are developed, completed and signed off at the appropriate review gate
Ensuring that all written deliverables provided by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager are stored in the appropriate network folders and archived as necessary
Drafting, reviewing and recommending approval of deliverables
Working with client to hold Implementation Vendor Implementation Project Manager accountable through oversight and reporting for completing the
Implementation Project on time, within scope, within budget and according to the required quality standard (with agreed specifications)
Helping to mitigate/resolve issues, risks and conflicts that are elevated by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager
Managing project change request process and facilitating the approval process for requests submitted by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager
Monitoring potential Implementation project risks, opportunities, and issues that may impact the project
Facilitating resolution of issues with input from the Client Project Managers
Escalating unresolved issues to Project Directors and/or Steering Committee, in accordance with policies, as appropriate
Reporting project progress, budget and status to the appropriate levels (e.g., Executive Sponsor, Executive Council, Steering Committee) and recommending corrective action when necessary)
Reviewing the detailed Project Plan, and monitoring schedules on an ongoing basis to include documenting noted issues and concerns with project progress in accordance with the Project Plan
Responsible for the independent management oversight of the Project, securing the required resources and advocating to senior management
Required Skillsets:
This is a remote position based in the US with up to 50% travel based on client needs
10+years recent experience with managing large, complex ERP projects with experience in higher education, preferably with a research university or a comprehensive university
Public sector higher education experience preferrable
Career focus on higher education process improvement and/or systems implementation
Working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS-Project, MS-Outlook
Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail
Possesses strong analytical skills
Exhibits effective team skills
Ability to make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
Experience with one or more of the following functional areas: Student
Administration, Financial Management, Purchasing, HR/Payroll, or Grants Management
Experience developing/creating procurement documents (e.g., RFPs) and related acquisition documents for software products and services
Experience managing the procurement process, preferably in higher education or the public sector
Ability to provide high level expertise across a broad range of business and IT related subject matter areas
Experience performing cost benefit analysis regarding new IT purchases
Experience with procurement policies and procedures
Experience negotiating and managing software and services contracts
Education:
Bachelor of Arts or Science degree required, in a technical or scientific field
MBA or other advanced degree(s) desirable
PMP preferred
