Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 2-3 years in a public accounting firm and/or 5+ years in accounting and reporting
  • Strong experience with general ledger, general accounting, GAAP and month-end closing process
  • Experience in financial statement prep and management reporting, as well as experience with capital asset accounting

Requirements:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for general accounting areas including general ledger, fixed assets, prepaid software, debt, operating leases, equity and accrued liabilities, and other assigned tasks
  • Participate in the month-end close process, ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls, issue close notifications, and support reporting to tie out financials for schedules
  • Manage cash treasury activities including cash tracking, administering wire transfers and other bank-related duties, and weekly cash flow forecasting; ensure accuracy
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and asset-related entries, assess capitalization vs. expense treatment for software and hardware and internal development costs, and lead quarterly meetings with the product development manager

 What’s unique about this role?

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of the monthly financial package and analysis. They will prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations as well as manage the close process.  

 What will this person do?

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to general accounting, fixed assets, prepaid software, debt, operating lease, equity and accrued liabilities as well as others assigned. 
  • Participate in the month-end closing, including close notifications.
  • Support the Assistant Controller with reporting and tie out of financials to support schedule.
  • Cash Treasury includes cash tracking, administers wire transfers and other bank related duties, weekly cash flow forecasting and ensure accuracy.
  • Monthly variance reporting for income statement and balance sheets as assigned.
  • Review of balance sheet recons, fixed assets & prepaid entries prepared by the staff.
  • Assess and determine capitalization and expense treatment for software and hardware, purchases as well as internal labor and contractor costs for new internal development projects. Take the lead on quarterly meetings with product development manager. 
  • Responsible for cash tracking and forecasting as well as work in progress capitalization.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance with internal controls and processes.
  • Responsible for semi-monthly payroll G/L accounting and audit support.
  • General / Operational Accounting backup support when needed. 
  • Support due diligence activities, ERP implementation and other special projects. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 2 – 3 years in a public accounting firm and/or 5 plus year’s in accounting and reporting 
  • Strong experience with general ledger, general accounting, GAAP and month-end closing process.
  • Experience in financial statement prep and management reporting as well as experience with capital asset accounting.  
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization 
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in a team environment 
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel 
  • Strong attention to detail 


Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table
  • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Knowledge of financial and tax reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Federal and state tax knowledge and ability to research.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently. 
  • Complete projects efficiently and on-time
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with team

The salary range for this position may be tailored to be lower or higher in different talent markets.

This role will be eligible to participate in an annual bonus or incentive program.
