Job Summary:
The Product Owner is a key liaison between market needs and delivery of a solution. In this role, the Product Owner owns the backlog end-to-end—writing clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, collaborating with engineering and UX, and leveraging AI tools to work efficiently at scale.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the team always works on the highest-impact work
- Author well-structured epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Rovo) to produce and refine backlog artifacts efficiently and at scale
- Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
- Confirm that executed stories comply with Neumo’s Definition of Done.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product releases.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather and validate requirements and feedback.
- Work closely with senior leadership to inform product strategy and provide updates on product progress and milestones.
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform product decisions and strategy.
- Ensure product aligns with user needs, business goals, and technical capabilities.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Monitor and report on product performance, quality, and usage metrics.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- 2+ years' experience working in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Product Owner or Business Analyst role.
- Public sector or public sector software experience desired, tax administration, short-term rental or revenue management solutions a plus.
- Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Figma; experience with AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Copilot) to accelerate story creation and analysis;
- Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to create epics, user stories, user journeys, wireframes, and basic diagrams to convey ideas
- Strong written communication skills and client presence; able to translate effectively between technical and business audiences
- Able to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Ability to persuade, encourage and motivate others to beat deadlines
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
