Roles & Responsibilities

  • 10+ years in senior technology leadership (CTO/Head of AI/ Distinguished AI Engineer) with a proven track record shipping AI at scale and strong communication.
  • Extensive production experience with Python and FastAPI, integrating extensive LLM APIs in production, and building scalable AI/ML systems (>1M users) plus end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Experience in regulated healthcare AI (privacy frameworks, DPIA/TRA, clinical safety, audit trails) and security/privacy considerations (threat modeling, secrets management).
  • Advisory, fractional, or board-level experience for engineering or AI teams, with ability to translate strategy into artifacts and guide executive decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Provide clear advice-to-decision paths for new and ongoing AI projects, translating strategy into actionable roadmaps.
  • Propose or review AI strategy and implementation pathways; develop reference architectures, playbooks, guardrails, risk registers, and buy/build/partner matrices.
  • Oversee governance and quality checks for AI deployments, ensuring safety, reliability, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to accelerate the AI roadmap, including vendor RFPs, tool evaluations, and architecture-level decision making.

Who You Are

You are a senior technical executive — CTO, Head of AI, or Principal/Distinguished Engineer — who excels in guiding AI product direction and high-stakes architectural decisions. You bring depth in AI deployment at scale, offer crisp, actionable guidance, and communicate with clarity. You can zoom out to strategy and zoom into technical details, producing artifacts that help leaders move quickly and safely.

You share your experience in Ai development, Ai strategy, scalable Ai production systems to form strategies, and accelerate the company’s AI roadmap and de‑risk decision making.

Your Experience Includes 

  • LLM & Multi-Agent Systems (safety, evals, retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, cost/latency engineering)
  • MLOps & Data Platforms (feature stores, pipelines, governance, labeling/feedback loops)
  • AI in Regulated Health (privacy, DPIA/TRA, clinical safety, audit trails)
  • SRE/Cloud Economics (SLOs, incident mgmt, cost/perf tradeoffs)
  • Security & Privacy (threat modeling for AI systems, secrets mgmt, data minimization)
  • Product & Growth (AI monetization, pricing, usage metering, partner integrations)

Your Responsibilities 

  • Provide clear advice-to-decision paths for new and extending projects. You propose or review Ai strategy, and implementation pathways.
  • Reference architectures, playbooks, and guardrail policies; risk registers; buy/build/partner matrices; vendor RFPs.
  • Quality checks 

Requirements

Must-have qualifications

  • 10+ yrs; prior CTO/Head of AI/Distinguished Ai Eng; shipped AI at scale; strong communication.
  • Extensive proof of Python & FAST API projects, utilising extensive LLM APIs in production systems 
  • Scaled Ai/ML systems above 1M users 
  • Handled (managed and built) complex data pipelines

Nice-to-have

• Experience in regulated healthcare or clinical AI (privacy frameworks, DPIA, compliance, audit requirements).
• Prior advisory, fractional, consulting, or board-level support experience for engineering or AI teams.

Hourly Rate
Engagement term: Typically 6–12 months with flexible scope and deliverables.

Payment & contractor terms
Independent Contractor status only. Payment in USD via bank direct deposit. Hourly invoicing. No employee benefits.
