Job description

Cedar Park Group is hiring an Inpatient Coding Auditor for a remote, short-term summer assignment supporting Inpatient Level 1 Trauma coding audits.

Position Overview

As an Inpatient Coding Auditor, you will lead annual inpatient coding audits for a Level 1 Trauma program, including chart review, scoring, rebuttals, and executive-level reporting. You’ll partner with leadership to communicate audit findings, identify trends and education needs, and deliver both group and 1:1 education sessions to improve coding accuracy and documentation quality.

Responsibilities

  • Complete annual inpatient coding audits for a Level 1 Trauma program
  • Audit approximately 125 inpatient charts, averaging 1–1.5 charts per hour
  • Perform audit scoring, manage rebuttals, and deliver an executive summary of findings
  • Analyze trends, error rates, and missed diagnosis queries; translate findings into clear recommendations
  • Meet with leadership to review findings and align on education plans
  • Lead formal education sessions (group and 1:1) based on audit results
  • Work within 3M CAC and validate/verify codes, specificity, and acuity as required

Required Qualifications

  • AHIMA certification: RHIT or CCS
  • Meditech EHR experience
    Inpatient auditing experience in a Level 1 Trauma setting
  • Proven ability to analyze findings/trends/error rates and produce executive reports/summaries
  • Experience creating and delivering formal education sessions (group and 1:1)
