Job description

Overview:

Position:  Paralegal II

 

Location: Remote, Working Pacific Standard Time Zone hours

 

Compensation:  $37-39/hr, DOE

 

Position Summary:

New American Funding is seeking a Paralegal II to support the Legal Department.  We seek smart, motivated candidates who are proactive, able to work independently, able to prioritize work and handle high volume in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and pay great attention to detail. The position provides an opportunity to be part of an active office and close-knit team in a role critical to the performance of the company’s business.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain contract templates as part of the Contract Risk Management program;
  2. Perform preliminary contract reviews of commercial agreements (e.g., vendor agreements, business agreements, leases, and similar documents) using established document standards to identify key terms, issues, and deviations;
  3. Update and maintain contract data in a contract management software;
  4. Review and interpret corporate documents, legal communications, and other legal documents, such as subpoenas;
  5. Review and interpret moderately complicated rules and regulations;
  6. Ensure clear and prompt communication with business units and provide guidance on required actions as necessary;
  7. Maintain and organize legal documents and data in third party and proprietary systems, including ticketing systems;
  8. Research and respond to complaints from regulators and government entities; and
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Must have 5+ years of relevant experience
  2. High skill level with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  3. High comfort level using custom or proprietary software, such as ticketing systems, contract management systems, and SharePoint/Azure;
  4. Experience performing legal research using legal research systems, such as AllRegs;
  5. Experience analyzing and interpreting regulations and rules;
  6. Experience in mortgage industry preferred;
  7. Ability to complete work timely with high degree of accuracy;
  8. Self-motivated, detail oriented and able to multi-task;
  9. Strong sense of accountability and work ethic; and
  10. Positive and a good team player.
