Location: Flexible (Shenzhen). This role allows the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to an office location.
The Role
As an Optical Quality Engineer for GoPro, you will be responsible to ensure both the quality of lens and lens module from optical suppliers. This involves working with suppliers to improve their quality and processes level, conducting audits, and analyzing data to identify and resolve quality issues.
What You Will Do
- Mainly responsible for the lens module quality and optical parts quality, to resolve the quality issue and manufacturing issue during NPI and MP.
- Lead and drive supplier to keep improving the overall yield to hit the target from PVT to MP.
- Lens and lens module manufacturing process audit and fixtures buyoff.
- Ensure cosmetic criteria is clear and aligned between supplier OQC and CM IQC.
- Align the lens/lens module inspection plan for supplier OQC and CM IQC.
- Review and buyoff supplier PPAP. Manage supplier SPCN process.
- New supplier qualification
- Drive supplier to develop Quality Continuous Improvement Program, bring up supplier quality performance in a higher level.
- Achieve GoPro quality standards by utilizing tools and techniques including statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, DFx, and project tracking software (Jira).
- Evangelize the continuous improvement efforts related to NPI and sustaining processes.
Skills We’re Excited About
- Familiar with lens module, lens quality and manufacturing requirement is MUST.
- 6+ years Optical quality experience in lens module or lens supplier. Plus 3+ years quality job experience in lens module or lens manufacturer.
- Familiar with quality/engineering tools of FACA, 8D, 5why, DOE, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA.
- Strong ability in failure analysis and root cause determination.
- Solid independent worker experienced in problem solving and proactive communication.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Willing to travel inside China and oversea as needed.
- Strong leadership and communication approach
