Razor is looking for an Epic/EHR Solutions Architect who will serve as the technical lead and architectural owner for the implementation of Epic within a healthcare payer environment. This role is responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end architectural blueprint, ensuring Epic is integrated into a cohesive, interoperable healthcare ecosystem. The architect will work closely with enterprise architecture, integration, data, security, and product teams to align Epic with enterprise interoperability strategy, leveraging FHIR-based APIs via the payer platform and supporting long-term scalability, regulatory compliance, and business outcomes.
Education & Certification Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture, preferably in healthcare.
• Direct experience leading or architecting Epic implementations, ideally within a payer context.
• Strong understanding of interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, APIs).
• Experience designing API-first and platform-based integration architectures.
• Experience avoiding or remediating point-to-point integration anti-patterns.
• Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to mixed technical audiences.
Desired Skills
• Experience with FHIR platforms.
• Knowledge of payer systems such as claims processing, utilization management, care management, or member services.
• Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and modern integration platforms.
• Experience working with large system integrators and managing vendor architectural deliverables.
Responsibilities
Architectural Ownership & Governance
• Own and maintain the solution architecture blueprint for Epic implementation across payer workflows.
• Define architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails to ensure consistency and long-term maintainability.
• Review and approve design decisions to prevent point-to-point integrations and technical debt.
• Serve as the primary technical authority for Epic-related architecture decisions.
Interoperability & Integration Strategy
• Ensure Epic interoperability aligns with enterprise integration and interoperability strategy.
• Design and govern integrations using FHIR-based APIs, HL7, and industry standards.
• Partner with the FHIR platform team to ensure Epic integrations leverage reusable, API-first patterns.
• Guide teams away from tightly coupled integrations toward service-oriented, loosely coupled design.
Epic EHR Ecosystem & Healthcare Context
• Understand how Epic fits within the broader healthcare payer ecosystem, including claims, eligibility, provider data, care management platforms, member engagement tools, and analytics.
• Translate healthcare business requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with payer operations.
• Ensure solutions support regulatory and compliance needs (CMS, interoperability rules, data privacy).
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
• Act as the technical lead across vendors, system integrators, and internal delivery teams.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, security, data, and platform teams for alignment.
• Provide hands-on architectural guidance throughout design, build, and implementation.
• Identify architectural risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
