Senior Reactor Operator 4 (Work Control)

NOTE:  This is a contract position expected to last 12-24 months and is available for remote work within the contiguous United States, with travel as needed for business requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY: Leverages comprehensive expertise in maintenance, scheduling, and regulatory compliance to support the Plant Maintenance Program Manager in developing and implementing NuScale Services operational programs, including work control, tagging, and maintenance planning (online and outage). Responsibilities include creating standardized work packages, conducting operational reviews of engineering solutions, and developing procedural documentation. Previous senior reactor operator (SRO) license or certification is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives.  Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.  Collaborates with team members to ensure solutions are vetted and deliverables are of high quality.
2. Regularly interacts with management and other organizations on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.  Prepares and presents technical information concerning NuScale projects to the NRC, potential customers, and other stakeholders on behalf of NuScale.
3. Where appropriate, develops cost estimates and schedules to support Product and Project Delivery, Projects Controls, and Business Development.
4. Provides resolution for complex problems using professional operational principles and company objectives to resolve unique situations.
5. Performs design reviews to ensure the NuScale plant can be operated and maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
6. Develops implementing work control, tagging, outage planning, and operational programs procedures needed to support construction and operational plant needs.
7. Develops standard clearance orders (lockout/tagouts), work orders, and task instructions for scheduled maintenance (online and outage) and equipment installation.
8. Attends daily and weekly work management meetings as the NuScale work control liaison with site management when required.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

• Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in a technical field is required or 5 years applicable nuclear plant experience in lieu of a degree, and NRC issued SRO license is highly desirable.
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years of full-time working experience in the commercial nuclear power industry is required.  Direct experience working in work control, work planning, or cycle planning per INPO AP-928 is highly desired. Additionally, experience with outage planning is also highly desired.
• Industry Requirements:  Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
