Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance, and/or Engineering or Science, and/or Juris Doctorate, with a minimum of four to six years of R&D tax credit industry experience.
  • Enrolled Agent status required on date of hire/promotion or achievable within 6 weeks of starting.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication, and a willingness to learn and be a team player.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, plus internet navigation and legal/technical tax code research tools.

Requirements:

  • Lead consulting team in developing project workplans and scheduling deliverables; gather, format, and analyze large volumes of accounting cost data; create complex calculation databases using Excel and/or Access.
  • Collaborate with Federal Income Tax and International Tax teams to assist on other tax matters as needed.
  • Prepare and conduct client presentations; oversee and conduct interviews of client engineering/technical personnel; draft or review detailed project interview reports; respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities; travel to client locations to gather information.
  • Assist in the management of federal and state RD Tax Credit projects; review documentation and research issues; work with raw data to complete calculations; prepare and review RD tax credit calculations and deliverables.

The Manager assists the Director in directing a team of senior consultants and consultants in helping clients identify and claim R&E [commonly known as Research and Development (R&D)] tax credits and then assists the R&E Director and/or Sr. Manager in defending those credits when necessary in the context of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and/or state tax authorities. The Manager will diagnose, develop, and implement solutions for client tax needs. The Manager will also direct tax research, formulate tax plans, train new staff employees, senior consultants and consultants, and perform tax reviews.

People:

  • Leads consulting team members in developing project workplans and scheduling associated project deliverables.
  • Leads consulting team members in gathering, formatting, and analyzing large volumes of accounting cost data; and creating large complex calculation databases using Microsoft® Excel and/or Microsoft® Access.
  • Works with Federal Income Tax colleagues, as well as with International Tax colleagues, to assist on other tax matters where needed.

Client:

  • Prepares and conducts client presentations.
  • Oversee and perform interviews of client engineering and technical personnel, and drafts or reviews detailed project interview reports.
  • Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
  • Travels to client locations to gather information.
  • Assists clients in the preparation and filing of original and amended federal and state income and franchise tax returns.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance, and/or Engineering or Science, and/or Juris Doctorate required with a minimum of four to six years of R&E tax credit industry experience.  Must be, or achieve, Enrolled Agent status on date of hire/promotion or within 6 weeks of ascendancy to position.  Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn and be a team player.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assists Director and/or Manager, as requested, to directly supervise employees in the R&D Tax practice and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm’s policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Travel requirement: Up to 30 to 50%.

Compensation Pay Transparency:

For certain California based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $90,000.00 - $118,250.00

For other California based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $82,500.00 - $108,350.00

For Colorado based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $79,000.00 - $103,400.00

For Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $82,500.00 - $108,350.00

For other Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $79,000.00 - $103,400.00

For Maryland based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $79,000.00 - $103,400.00

For New York based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $90,000.00 - $118,250.00

For other New York based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $75,000.00 - $98,450.00

For Washington based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $82,500.00 - $108,350.00
