Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration; MBA or CPA strongly preferred, with education and experience considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of advanced accounting, financial analysis, statistics and modern financial management theory.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills for financial, statistical and accounting data, plus excellent oral and written communication; advanced computer skills.

Requirements:

  • Assist the Controller in budget preparation: oversee annual operating budget development, volume projections, staffing patterns, budget submission, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Review and monitor monthly budget variance reports (expense variance summaries, price-volume variance analysis, productivity reports, and purchased services tracking) and provide analysis and recommendations for cost improvements.
  • Provide educational support for managers by developing workshops on the monthly financial reporting package, financial orientation for new managers, and training on financial reporting systems.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis support for existing or proposed projects within the areas of responsibility and assist the Finance Department with clinical-area projects.

Job description

Under general supervision, provides financial, analytical, and technical support to the clinical areas of the Medical Center in the areas of budget preparation and monitoring, project and cost analysis, and productivity improvement to provide the highest quality financial reporting services for GBMC.

Education:

  • Bachelors of Science in Business Administration or Health Administration MBA or CPA strongly preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • 1 year progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a health care environment

Skills:
• Knowledge of advanced accounting, financial analysis, statistics and modern financial management theory
• Skill in data analysis and interpretations of marketing, financial, statistical and accounting data
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Advanced skill in using computers and personal productivity applications
• Ability to evaluate project costs
• Ability to prioritize projects and workflow

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists the GBMA Controller by providing direct oversight and support in the preparation of the annual operating budget by assisting the managers in the development of volume projections, developing staffing patterns, coordinating budget submission, evaluates validity of budget requests and recommends opportunities for cost reduction and/or productivity improvements.
• Assists the GBMA Controller by reviewing and monitoring monthly budget variance reports (expense variance report summaries, price-volume variance analysis, productivity reports, and purchased services tracking) to provide analysis, feedback to the managers, and recommendations for cost improvements and efficiencies.
• Assists the GBMA Controller by providing educational support for the managers by developing workshops for managers on the use of the monthly financial reporting package, financial orientation for new managers, and technical support/training on the use of financial reporting systems.
• Assists the GBMA Controller by providing support for ad hoc financial analysis of existing or proposed projects for his/her areas of responsibility as requested. Provides support to the Finance Department for projects involving the clinical areas.

Pay Range

$61,955.01 - $105,323.51

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
