Roles & Responsibilities

  • Experience managing other engineers or interns.
  • Undergraduate degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering or process improvement, preferably in multi-location logistics.
  • Proficiency with Visio, SmartSheets, and Microsoft Office; AutoCAD skills are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Lead and develop a team of 1-3 engineers to drive continuous improvement, cost savings, and optimized workflow across fulfillment centers.
  • Own the development and implementation of equipment, procedures, and process changes, including improvement project design and deployment.
  • Provide engineering leadership in process and equipment design, development, and compliance with quality standards; monitor service and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with project management and quality teams to forecast needs, drive strategic initiatives, execute multiple projects across a multi-location network, and continuously improve operations; travel as needed (25-45%).

BASIC SCOPE/PURPOSE 

 

Summary:  The Engineering Manager will work independently as well as collaborate with cross functional departments for the optimization, design, and improvement of operational processes. They will lead their team of 1-3 engineers to drive improved workflow, continuous improvement, cost savings, and physical and resource utilization. The position will help in areas such as inventory control, inbound, put away, order processing, quality control, and information management. 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to motivate and develop engineers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative style but also the ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Take leadership in driving continuous improvement across the other engineers and all fulfillment centers throughout the network.
  • Assist site leadership with forecasts, staffing and material handling equipment needs to improve cost, utilization, service, and efficiencies.
  • Take ownership of developing and implementing equipment, procedures and process changes including the design and implementation of improvement projects.
  • Provide engineering leadership in the design, development and implementation of processes and equipment.
  • Monitors and evaluates service and cost management.
  • Works closely with the project management and quality compliance teams to ensure the operations are driving quality through efficiency while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Supports operations and indirect support to the overall Innovation Strategy Road Map.
  • Lead process improvements and implement change to continuously compete in our markets.
  • Challenge the “status quo” and develop new ideas with processes.

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Experience managing other engineers or interns
  • Undergraduate degree in supply chain, logistics, other related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3 + years of experience in process engineering or process improvement, preferably in multi-location logistics.
  • Advanced experience with application such as: Visio, Smart sheets, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Auto-Cad skills a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience with lean six sigma preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will utilize process engineering and lean concepts.

Work Environment:  

  • Office / Warehouse Mix: This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role will require the ability to, on occasion, go in and out of trailers, navigate around roller racks, and other logistical equipment within a warehouse setting. The position will also require travel of both in air and driving.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee’s work environment may vary from professional office to fulfillment center floor, and other vendor/client locations.

 

Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

 

 

Travel
