  • Develop annual budget forecasts for Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health; monitor dynamic funding allocations to maximize training yield; provide quarterly financial reports in compliance with ICP agreement terms
  • Track and analyze staffing trends and human resource needs; support national/international staffing algorithm development and benchmarking; advise the Physics Professional Advisory Committee (PPAC) and Ontario Health leadership
  • Maintain a detailed database of residents, their training locations, status, and placements; collect and review HEJ Summer Student reports; generate periodic program performance reports and presentations

Position Title: Provincial Coordinator, Medical Physics Education Programs
Location: Toronto / Virtual

Time Commitment: 1 day per month
Term: 2 years, with an optional 2-year extension

Program: Radiation Treatment Program

We're seeking an experienced and visionary medical physicist to serve as the Provincial Coordinator for Medical Physics Education Programs within the Radiation Treatment Program. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Clinical Physics Residency and HEJ Summer Studentship programs at Regional Cancer Centres across Ontario, ensuring a sustainable and highly trained clinical medical physics workforce for the province.

The successful candidate will coordinate program operations, provide expert guidance to educational and clinical stakeholders, and ensure compliance with budgetary, accreditation, and reporting requirements. This role supports strategic mandate to maintain high training standards, address workforce needs, and ensure a consistent supply of medical physicists to meet growing clinical demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight & Coordination
    • Lead the province-wide Clinical Physics Residency and HEJ Summer Studentship Programs.
    • Assist cancer centres with CAMPEP accreditation or re-accreditation of training programs.
    • Maintain communication with Program Directors across all participating institutions.
  • Budgeting & Financial Reporting
    • Develop annual budget forecasts for Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health.
    • Monitor dynamic funding allocations to maximize training yield.
    • Provide quarterly financial reports in compliance with ICP agreement terms.
  • Workforce Planning & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Track and analyze staffing trends and human resource needs.
    • Support national/international staffing algorithm development and benchmarking.
    • Advise the Physics Professional Advisory Committee (PPAC) and Ontario Health leadership.
  • Monitoring & Reporting
    • Maintain a detailed database of residents, their training locations, status, and placements.

  • Public Relations & Advocacy
    • Serve as a spokesperson for medical physics education and workforce planning.
    • Respond to inquiries from applicants, educators, and institutional partners.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Medical Physics, Biophysics, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience in clinical medical physics and program leadership.
  • Deep understanding of the CAMPEP accreditation process and educational standards.
  • Proven experience managing HEJ Studentship and residency programs in Ontario.
  • Familiarity with CCPM certification processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong skills in financial management, human resource forecasting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Recognized as a thought leader within the clinical physics community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and consensus-building skills.
