The Technical Project Manager is the central driver for complex technology initiatives within the Retail domain. This role requires a strong blend of project management discipline, deep technical knowledge in data exchange protocols (EDI), and practical experience in managing geographically dispersed (onshore/offshore) teams. The PM is responsible for driving the project plan, managing critical delivery timelines, ensuring successful system integrations, and aligning technical solutions with strategic business objectives across the supply chain and customer experience.
Drive Timelines: Develop, maintain, and aggressively manage detailed project plans and schedules, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Scope & Risk Management: Define project scope, requirements, and success criteria. Proactively identify, report, and mitigate technical risks and issues (impediments), serving as the escalation point to remove roadblocks for the team.
Reporting & Governance: Provide regular, clear, and concise project status reports (including KPIs and burn-down) to executive stakeholders and leadership. Ensure adherence to established PMO methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Hybrid).
EDI Implementation: Lead and manage technical projects related to Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) onboarding, mapping, and translation for retail trading partners (e.g., 850, 810, 856 transaction sets).
System Integration: Oversee the integration of new retail technologies (e.g., e-commerce platforms, POS, WMS, OMS) with core enterprise systems.
MDM Coordination (Preferred): Collaborate with Data Governance and IT teams to manage and deliver Master Data Management (MDM) projects, ensuring data quality and consistency for key entities (e.g., Product, Customer, Vendor).
Technical Liaison: Act as the primary bridge between technical teams (Developers, Architects) and business stakeholders, translating retail business requirements into executable technical specifications and solutions.
Offshore Team Leadership: Effectively lead and coordinate cross-functional and offshore development teams across different time zones. This includes defining clear roles and responsibilities, setting overlapping work schedules for critical communication, and providing coaching to maintain motivation and high productivity.
Stakeholder Communication: Manage the expectations and satisfaction of all project stakeholders (business sponsors, end-users, IT leadership, vendors) through structured and transparent communication.
Issue Reporting & Resolution: Establish a transparent process for tracking, prioritizing, and promptly resolving project issues and impediments, ensuring quick turnaround and minimal impact on delivery.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Technical Project Manager, specifically within the Retail or Supply Chain domain.
Strong, hands-on experience with EDI implementations and knowledge of common transaction sets and EDI platforms/translators.
Proven experience managing teams that include offshore components.
Certifications: PMP, CSM, or other relevant Project Management/Agile certifications are highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), system architecture, and data integration concepts.
Tools: Proficiency with PM tools (Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Asana), reporting tools, and version control systems.
Bonus Knowledge: Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) principles, data governance, and MDM solutions (e.g., Informatica, SAP MDM) is a strong plus.
