Project:
This team owns a data platform that communicates with Client's online banking & exposes data like account balances, credit card balances, etc. This is business critical data/functionality, so any changes to the applications/configurations need to be done in a way that can maintain operations and limit disruption to users
There is an audit of their platform going on that is uncovering some security risks that need to be addressed within the Cassandra DB
Additionally, they are migrating from on-prem to Azure – planning to have this complete by Q2 of 2026. Also considering migrating to Yugabyte
Responsibilities:
Taking requirements from the audit team as to what changes need to be made within the database & update configurations accordingly
Ensure that all new functionality within the DB meets the updated requirements based on the audit results
Configure & enable SSL and LDAP
Observability/monitoring alerts using Prometheus & Grafana
Performance tuning, backup/recovery, troubleshooting, etc.
Must Haves:
Cassandra expertise – they do not have much Cassandra knowledge on the team, need someone who is able to identify gaps in the platform and provide recommendations for solutions
Only need DBA as the data modeling & database development is complete, but any Cassandra development experience would be a plus
Ansible & AWX – all operational pipelines will be on Ansible with AWX
Knowledge of Jenkins pipelines and Terraform for IaC for automating DB deployments, automating cluster set up, etc.
