Roles & Responsibilities

  • 3-5 years of experience with big data sets and designing semantic data layers to meet business use cases
  • 3+ years of experience in data modeling, building data warehouses, data marts, and data lakes
  • Experience with cloud technologies and big data tools (AWS/Azure/GCP; AWS EMR, S3, Glue ETL, etc.)
  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Spark, SQL (and R/Scala) and familiarity with analytics tools (Tableau/Power BI/Looker)

Requirements:

  • Design, build, and operationalize data pipelines and data products to support marketing data, activation, personalization, and analytics.
  • Curate datasets and define data models and schemas (raw data, semantic layer, IDR/CDP) to power marketing activation and analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DBA, IT security, project manager, technical writer, clients) and communicate system issues at the appropriate technical level in matrixed projects.
  • Transform large, disparate data sets into actionable customer audiences to enable targeted marketing activation and personalized experiences.

Job Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Data Engineer.

  • As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building, managing and operationalizing data pipelines in support of key marketing data and analytics use cases, curating datasets and operationalizing data delivery for production level deployments.
  • You will work with the team and the business to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer and marketing data requirements, including how data is created, collected, and consumed across Vanguard’s marketing divisions.
  • You will use your knowledge of this data to inform data sets and schema designs for raw data collection, semantic data layer/product design, and Identity Resolution (IDR) and Customer Data Platform (CDP) schema design to power marketing activation, personalization and analytics use cases.
  • You will transform large and disparate data sets into rocket fuel of marketers to create highly targeted customer audiences for personalized customer experiences.
  • You will design and build data products that power company's digital and non-digital marketing and customer experiences.
  • You will interface with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience. Is highly functional on large, matrixed project teams. Interfaces with cross functional team members, including database administrator, IT security, project manager, technical writer, and clients. Communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working with various Big data sets and designing semantic data layers to meet business use cases
  • 3+ years’ experience in data modeling, building data warehouses, marts and lakes Marketing acumen and understanding of how to utilize customer interaction data for activation, personalization and analytics is preferred
  • Experience in cloud technologies and patterns (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Worked on related Big Data technologies (AWS EMR, S3, Glue ETL, Cloud Formation templates, Cloud Watch Logs, Splunk, Ansible, etc.)
  • Good understanding of lean principles, including Shift left, DevOps, CloudOps, DataOps, continuous delivery; must have experience with Maven, Cucumber testing, Bamboo, git,
  • Strong experience with scripting languages and platforms such as Python, Spark, R, SQL, Scala, etc.
  • Familiarity with analytics reporting and visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
