Roles & Responsibilities

  • 15+ years experience in Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation within the chemical, petrochemical, and/or renewables energy industry.
  • VCA-VOL Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience managing construction contractors/partners and their works, with strong HSSE culture engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team-oriented, hands-on; advanced computer skills with construction document management systems and 3D review tools; English reporting.

Requirements:

  • Oversee all construction activities in the area, ensuring compliance with RIIG project safety plans, standards, practices, and procedures, and promote HSSE culture on all project locations.
  • Review and approve work method statements (WMS) and Task Risk Assessments (TRA) with contractors in advance of activities; monitor HSSE, schedule, cost, and quality through daily/weekly reports.
  • Manage contractor manpower, productivity, budget, and schedule; identify required corrective actions and potential scope changes; support MoC processes and ensure changes are approved before start.
  • Ensure work is executed per RIIG quality requirements; maintain control of equipment, materials, and supplies; contribute to cost estimation/forecasting and coordinate project management activities including Primavera and critical path communications.

Job description

The Area Construction Manager reports to the (Deputy) Construction Director and is responsible for all construction activities in the respective area. Responsible for completing all facets of the work according to RIIG project safety plans, standards, practices, and procedures. Maintains an active role in the development of HSSE culture on the project by making HSSE a natural part of all work performed at all project locations involved. Plays an active role in the development of the RIIG project safety culture and helps make safety a natural part of all work activities Support & review construction contractor/partner in preparation of work method statements (WMS) and Task Risk Assessment (TRA) timely in advance of the planned activities (shop fabrication & assembly/transport & logistics/site installation & integration) Communicates construction contractor/partner performance by preparing daily/weekly reports consisting of information on HSSE, Schedule, cost & quality including any observed risks & concerns

Monitors the construction contractor/partner's optimal manpower levels to execute safely and efficiently works to achieve scheduled delivery milestones
Monitors construction contractor/partner productivity & cost and identifies/communicates required corrective action(s), as necessary, to maintain the budget and schedule Identifies potential scope changes and develops the information needed to support the project MoC program Ensures no out-scope work is started until an approved written change order is received Maintains current knowledge of the contractual obligations and commitments of supplier/vendor/construction contractor/partner Responsible for executing the work in accordance with the RIIG project quality requirements and program Provides assurance that the work is executed in accordance with project quality obligations Maintains / drives effective and efficient use of construction equipment and control of permanent plant materials and equipment, small tools, consumables, and supplies Cost: To provide input into and oversee the development and trends of the project cost estimate and forecast.
To remain intimately familiar with all facets of the project budget, construction contractors' scope or work, and contract, so as to be able to immediately identify potential changes in scope, cost, and or schedule for escalation to the Contractor Holder.

Project Management as required:

In consultation with the respective construction contractors/partners planning and executing the work to meet the project schedule with the highest goal of meeting the PIT in the shortest time possible without jeopardizing the safe execution of the works, driving to meet intermediate milestones as defined in the Construction Contractor contracts, communicating and support for incorporating the plan into Primavera, communicating potential and all real changes to the leadership team in a timely fashion remaining intimately familiar with all facets of the plan and critical path.

Specific Experience Requirements:

  • 15+ years experience in the Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation discipline within the chemical, petrochemical, and/or renewables energy industry VCA-VOL Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with managing construction contractor/partner and their works
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team player, energetic and hands-on
  • Advanced computer skills with packages such as common construction industry document management systems, 3D review software tools
    SCRUM & Lean ways of working a pre. 
  • Good reporting skills by means of preparation of daily/weekly HSSE, progress, cost & quality reports (English language)
