Job description

Overview:

The Manager, CloudOps interfaces with the senior leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of cloud services based on the symplr platform for both cloud and on-premises solutions.  This role will help plan and provide strategy for the technical implementation, deployment, monitoring, and support of all symplr products.  This role will lead a team specializing in the vast array of technologies as well as provide guidance to ensure compliance with company standards, creation and delivery of system documentation, training, and the timely delivery of services.  This person needs to be highly organized and experienced in technology, development, support, and analysis services.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Understand, communicate, and commit to the organization's vision, goals, and strategies.
  • Serve as a focal point during production outages, closely monitor and provide frequent updates to appropriate resources until a timely resolution occurs and service tickets are thoroughly documented including any unresolved concerns.
  • Foster and champion an environment that promotes trust, information sharing, continuous improvement, innovation, quality outcomes and self-development.
  • Align team priorities to that of the organization and realign strategic direction when appropriate.
  • Coach, mentor, and train team members to establish a consistent level of quality, accuracy, accountability, and compliance of department standards.
  • Ensure that production support is equitably spread among the appropriate team members.
  • Participate with interviewing, hiring, and training employees, appraising performance, and resource assignments as well as employee development, rewarding and disciplining, resolving problems, and communicating necessary information on an ongoing basis.
  • Continuously monitor and experiment with emerging cloud technologies to better evaluate differentiated vendor offerings.
  • Stay abreast of new industry trends and provide subject matter expertise in Cloud Technologies, providing consultation to leadership.
  • Provide cross-departmental support for application modernization efforts.
Skills Required:
  • 7+ years' experience in cloud operations management, focusing on delivery processes, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, and support.
  • Excellent time management, resource organization and priority establishment skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Management experience of an operations team with the ability to lead, coordinate, and participate in prioritization planning and delegation of tasks or assignments.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and meet business objectives in a global, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
  • Strong ability to influence and lead change directly related to the organizational goals of a business unit or portfolio of products.
  • Experience working remotely and managing a distributed team.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in many or all of the following areas:
    • Windows Server.
    • Linux Server (Ubuntu/Debian, RHEL/CentOS).
    • Active Directory, GPO, DFS, RBAC.
    • SQL Server Management (hosted or cloud).
    • PowerShell, Ruby, or Python scripting.
    • Infrastructure as Code – Terraform.
    • Development Infrastructure: Terraform/Helm/AWS/Azure/Kubernetes.
    • CI/CD Tools (Jenkins, Octopus, ArgoCD/Drone, etc.).
    • Basic Virtualization Administration (VMWare, Hyper-V).
    • Basic cloud experience (AWS or Azure preferred).
    • Application Hosting (IIS, Apache, Tomcat).
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience
  • Positive team spirit
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
