What you'll do:
You are a capable, self-motivated data engineer. You will be a member of the data engineering team working on tasks ranging from design, development, operations of data warehouse, data platform and data pipelines. We enjoy working closely with each other utilizing an Agile development methodology. Priorities can change quickly, but our team members are able to stay ahead to delight every one of our customers whether they are internal or external to Viasat.
The day-to-day:
- Develop ETL processes delivering high-quality code, following coding best practices.
- Create and implement complex analytical data models that support reporting and analytics business requirements.
- Support and troubleshoot issues/bugs in data pipeline and SQLs for analytics.
- Analyse the use of data, design and create DataMarts based on requirements.
- Design and build reporting solutions.
- Work with Functional/Business resources on a day-to-day basis to understand business requirements and processes
- Ability to work on distributed remote agile teams with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. You will be required to communicate both verbally and in written form with remote international teams very frequently.
- Embracing the DevOps philosophy of product development, in addition to your design development activities you are also required to provide operational support of the post-production deployment
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering with strong knowledge in Python/DBT.
- Experience in Data Warehousing technologies such as Snowflake/BigQuery along with experience on any SQL technologies
- Experience in processing batch and stream data at scale.
- Experience with big data technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink etc.
- Experience working in cloud environment AWS/GCP.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies including dimensional modelling.
- Strong proficiency in SQL query writing and optimization.
- Familiarity with Bigdata and data processing ETL/ETL technologies
- Problem-solving experience and possess a DevOps approach
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Disciplines.
What will help you on the job:
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts
- Prior working experience in a DevOps team is a plus.
- CI/CD and Devops exposure is a strong plus
