Ruby on Rails Engineer (Freelance)

Job Description:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems for thousands of businesses.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Ruby on Rails.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that delight out customers.
• Participate in troubleshooting and debugging complex issues in production environments.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements:

• Technical Skills (Hard Skills)
  
  • Architecture: Proficient in microservices and decoupling concepts.
  • API: Expert in creating well-structured RESTful APIs, complete with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
  • Performance: Understands caching (Redis), database optimization, and load balancing techniques.
  • Database: Experienced with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
  • Language: Proficient in Ruby on Rails.
  • Security: Proficient in OWASP principles (SQL Injection, XSS, IDOR, CSRF, Security Misconfiguration, Broken Authentication).
  Soft Skills
  
  • Problem-Solving: Able to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
  • Collaboration: Communicative and able to work effectively with frontend teams and other stakeholders.
  • Ownership: Has a sense of ownership over the work.
  • Testing: Committed to writing unit and integration tests.
  • Adaptability: Eager to learn new technologies and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Mentorship: Able to mentor junior developers and share knowledge with the team.

Freelance Period: 5 months
Working Arrangements for This Position:

• Remote working
• 40 hours a week (documented via timesheet/work log).
• Semi-flexible working hours, need to be reachable from 9am - 6pm.
• Expected to be reachable if there's a production incident for the feature you develop.
• Will prioritize candidates who are able to join immediately.
