Job description

Have you finished school and are interested in working in the chemical, specifically painting industry? Would you like to learn more about how the Research & Development (R&D) department functions in an international organization? Are you open to learning new skills and at the same time can and like to take the initiative? If so, we are probably looking for you!

The vocational training for a Paint Laboratory assistant is performed both in the company and the vocational training school. The duration of the training is 3 ½ years but depending on previous education can be shortened by half a year or even a full year.

As an Apprentice Paint Laboratory Assistant, you will conduct and report fundamental research, product development or product maintenance under supervising. You would have the opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest business impact of the projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and report projects using existing or new scientific methods and theories to solve problems and improve or generate new products and processes under supervising. Preparing detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions with support.
  • Evaluate the economic impact of a project.
  • Estimate the costs, resources and time required to conduct one or more research projects and monitor the performance of these projects to ensure targets are met.
  • Support by development and maintaining of technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and development.
  • Follow all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health & Safety and Environment.
  • Maintenance of local R&D stock.

Qualifications and competences

  • Mittlere Reife (equivalent to General Certificate of Secondary Education) or higher education.
  • Interest in chemical/ physical education.
  • Mandatory required training according to Group Training Policy (see e-convention).
  • Ability to communicate fluently in German and English.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Computer skills
  • Quality orientation
  • Creativity, analytical skills and good organization
  • Good written and oral communication
