Job description

We are looking for the best

42dot China is a newly established subsidiary, dedicated to pioneering R&D in autonomous driving technologies in China. We are looking for a handson and strategic IT Manager to lead all aspects of IT infrastructure and operations for our new R&D center in Shanghai. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining a secure, compliant, and efficient IT environment tailored to the technical constraints of operating in mainland China, while ensuring interoperability with 42dot headquarters in South Korea.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with enterprise IT deployment in China, including local software ecosystems, regulatorycompliant VPNs, and hybrid communication systems between global and domestic teams.

Responsibilities

1. Local IT Infrastructure Setup & Operation

  • Design and implement local IT systems including secure wiredwireless networks, endpoint management, NAS storage, backup, and access control.

  • Set up compliant VPN services (e.g., China Telecom, CITIC) to enable limited crossborder data flow for internal tools like Slack and Gmail.

  • Configure and manage local servers, firewalls, asset inventories, and IT monitoring systems to support R&D environments.

  • Manage IT asset procurement, installation, and maintenance, including vendor coordination, lifecycle tracking, and budget compliance.

    • 2. Communication and Collaboration Systems

      • Deploy and maintain Chinacompliant collaboration tools:

      • Messaging: WeCom or DingTalk

      • Video conferencing: Tencent Meeting (腾讯会议) or Zoom China enterprise license

      • Email: Outlook or localized enterprise email systems

      • Ensure data exchange between China and HQ is feasible through hybrid workflows (e.g., PDFPPT conversions, email relay, or secure file channels).

      • Maintain interoperability between HQ tools (Google Workspace, Slack) and local substitutes through secure and compliant channels.

        • 3. Crossborder IT Strategy

          • Develop and manage a dualsystem collaboration framework:

          • HQ: Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Slack)

          • China: Local substitutes with secure data exchange protocols (e.g., shared cloud folders, converted documents)

          • Implement and govern policies for handling sensitive vs. shareable data, including access control, encryption, and offcloud handling when needed.

          • Work closely with HQ IT and security teams to align IT strategy, ensure policy compliance, and optimize crossborder workflows.

            • 4. Support & Incident Management

              • Provide daily IT support to the Chinabased team for hardware, software, and network issues.

              • Ensure reliable uptime of systems including internal NAS, collaboration platforms, and VPN.

              • Serve as first responder and coordinator for local IT troubleshooting and security incidents.

              • Establish SOPs and documentation for incident response and recovery.

                • 5. IT Asset Management

                  • Inspect IT assets (laptops, desktops, monitors, etc.), assign asset tags, and manage checkinout processes.

                  • Source and share multiple vendor equipment that meets HQ IT standards and specifications.

                  • Purchase, distribute, and collect IT consumables.

                          • Establish video conferencing setups with domestic and international headquarters (TVs, webcams, screen mirroring, etc.).

                          • Integrate and maintain video conferencing systems.

                            • Qualifications

                              • Ability to manage hybrid collaboration workflows between blocked (Google, Slack) and local systems.

                              • Working knowledge of English is required; Korean proficiency is a plus.
