  • Design and develop Layer-2 protocol stack components for 5G-NR/LTE/LTE-A RAN.

  • Collaborate on Intel FlexRAN and ORAN integration to optimize network performance.
  • Lead testing, validation, and technical mentorship activities.

Job description

Lead Engineer – 5GNRLTELTEA RAN

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Design & Development:

Architect and develop Layer2 protocol stack components (RLC, PDCP, RRC) for 5GNRLTELTEA RAN.

Design and implement Layer2 & Layer1(HighPHY) interfaces, ensuring efficient data flow and minimal latency.

Develop scheduling algorithms optimized for 5GNR and LTE performance.



2. Debugging & Troubleshooting:

Perform indepth debugging of Layer2 and Layer1(HighPHY) interactions, addressing protocol violations and performance bottlenecks.

Troubleshoot issues in 5GNRLTE RLC, PDCP, RRC, and scheduler functionality using protocol analyzers and debugging tools.

Analyze Layer1 and Layer2 interactions to optimize overall system performance.



3. Intel FlexRAN & ORAN Integration:

Work with Intel FlexRAN architecture, optimizing Layer2 scheduling and resource allocation.

Develop and debug ORAN fronthaul (FH) implementations for seamless 5GNRLTE operation.



4. Performance Optimization:

Finetune Layer2 scheduling strategies to enhance throughput, latency, and reliability.

Optimize NR HighPHY and ORAN FH data flows to ensure efficient transmission and reception.



5. Embedded C Development & Debugging:

Write and maintain highperformance Embedded C code for Layer2 protocol stack components.

Utilize advanced debugging tools (e.g., GDB, Lauterbach, Wireshark) for protocol and memory analysis.

Ensure memoryefficient and poweroptimized implementation for realtime embedded environments.



6. Crossfunctional Collaboration:

Work closely with PHY and L3 teams to ensure seamless endtoend functionality.

Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers for efficient softwarehardware codesign.

Engage with ORAN and telecom vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards.



7. Testing & Validation:

Define test strategies and develop test cases for validating Layer2 protocols and scheduler behavior.

Conduct systemlevel simulations and realworld testing for stability and compliance.

Perform log analysis to identify and resolve issues impacting 5GNRLTE performance.



8. Technical Leadership & Mentorship:

Guide junior engineers in protocol development, debugging techniques, and best practices.

Review design documents, code, and test plans to ensure highquality software development.

Stay updated on the latest 5GNRLTE advancements and contribute to innovation in RAN technologies.
