Our client an innovative iGaming company seeks a Database Engineer to join their team.

As a Database Engineer with PostgreSQL expertise, youll play a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting our clients PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, availability, and stability. You’ll collaborate with application teams to enhance database interactions, monitor system health, and implement recovery strategies during critical incidents.

Responsibilities:

Optimize and maintain PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, stability, and availability by resolving bottlenecks, monitoring queries, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
Monitor database clusters for instability, high CPUIO usage, or unusual patterns in logs and metrics.
Ensure system stability through manual interventions, cloud database management, and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
Advise on database architecture, contribute to design improvements, and promote a databasefirst approach for scalability and reliability.
Support application teams by advising on database architecture and structure to align with best practices.
Collaborate with application developers to optimize database interactions and improve overall system performance.

Requirements:

Expertise in PostgreSQL administration with 35 years of experience, particularly in highload environments.
Strong skills in query optimization, database contention issues, and locking mechanisms.
Experience with cloudbased database solutions, particularly AlloyDB.
Ability to perform manual interventions during highpressure incidents.
Deep understanding of database maintenance, including indexing, vacuuming, and backups.
