Our team


Our agile cross functional portfolio teams work collaboratively to solve interesting and challenging problems in industries we participate in.

Typically, our teams comprise of Data Scientists andor Simulation Engineers, Full Stack Software Engineers, Test Engineers, System Reliability Engineers (DevOps) and Systems Engineers.


The role


You will become one of our key contributors who guide and foster innovation by developing and deploying leading edge systems that span various market segments including the transportation market.



As a Communications System Engineer you will be actively involved in the endtoend Systems Engineering lifecycle of complex communications projects; giving technical input from eliciting userproduct needs, requirements capturemanagementtraceability, through to test & verification planning for communications systems deployments.



With oversight from a Senior Systems Engineer, you will help develop communications solutions and input into the communications technology roadmap keeping the business at the forefront of industry trends. You will provide technical contribution to the planning and implementation of projects, bids and proposals including involvement in presales and sales activities, requirements capture and deployment of proof of concepts.


The role includes championing Systems Engineering best practice in MA and working closely with the UK Systems Engineering community to continuously improve the practice and processes. This includes proactively contributing to knowledge dissemination by, for example, being a technology evangelist, learning and being coached, etc. fostering links to other technical disciplines across the team.


Minimum


We are looking for an applicant who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other highly quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
      • Experience delivering systems with hardware, embedded software, application software and mechanical components.
          • An understanding and appreciation of requirements capture, management, traceability processes and the importance thereof.
              • Evidence of involvement in testing & validation of distributed electronic and software systems.
                  • Using indepth product andor industry knowledge to provide specialized technical application knowledge and expertise to sales and business development teams and the client through technical presentations and product demonstrations.
                      • LANWAN networking and IT Network Operations experience.
                          • Experience of working with Linux servers (preferably Debian derived), including setup and administration of common services, routing and IP
                              • Some experience with programming skills, including working with version control tools.
                                  • Capable of manual handling of equipment up to 10kg per unit and desirepassion to be involved in field engineering.

                                    • Desirable & Development Areas


                                      Some of the below would be beneficial to the applicant, but opportunities to develop in these areas will also be provided:

                                      • Technical sales involvement would be an advantage
                                          • Professional qualifications in communications systems (e.g. CCNA).
                                              • Experience with requirements management and lifecycle management tools
                                                  • DB administration experience
                                                      • Experience with wireless network deployment, wireless LAN controllers and an appreciation of networking in a dynamic environment
                                                          • Experience of automation platforms such as Saltstack, Puppet, Ansible etc.
                                                              • Experience of programming in Python andor Bash
                                                                  • Experience of working in virtualized and cloudbased environments
                                                                      • Selfmotivated, innovative, and constantly looking for ways to improve both product and processes
                                                                          • Experience in the rail vehicle environment with an appreciation of rolling stock regulations. In particular, evidence of defining and specifying systems to be installed onto rail vehicles would be a distinct advantage
                                                                              • Some understanding of US railbus market would be desirable
                                                                                  • Extensive customer facing experience in a technical or product capacity
                                                                                      • Evidence of contributing to the sales process by way of responding to RFIs, RFPs and RFQs
